Fallen over again

Not enough I fell off my doorstep a couple of weeks ago and hurt my ankle luckily not too bad just a sprain but this week knee gave way and smashed my arm in bathroom spent a few hours in casualty last night which the seats cause more pain than anything else but after X-rays etc. Because of the swelling which my hand has blown up twice the size of its normal size. They couldn't definitely say one way or the other if it's broken but have to treat it as if it is broken otherwise it can cause more problems I missed my long awaited rheumatology appointment because I couldn't get there so now have to wait until August for next appointment and back to A&E next week. So much fun!!

So sorry to read your post.  You probably hadn't fully recovered from your previous fall and when your knee suddenly gives way with no warning there is just no way of saving yourself apart from putting your hand out.  I suppose they had to err on the side of caution with it but it is such a shame you missed your long awaited Rheumy appt.  Do hope it isn't broken and just badly bruised will be able  to tell until the swelling goes down. I agree the seats in those places are like instruments of torture I used to hate taking the OH to his physio I spent more time slowly pacing the corridor than sitting.  I reckon it was an evil ploy to get more customers.  Any way take care of yourself and get well soon.  Positive side you won't need any excuse to just kaze around and you won't need to feel guilty.x😀

Sorry to hear about your fall, I know what you mean about the seats, on Sunday I sat with my Husband for seven hours in A&E, he had a fall he had lots of tests and a brain scan and declared medically well enough to leave but he is physically more frail. I do hope you were well treated as we were and that you recover soon xx

I was very well treated as it said waiting time was 3 hours my heart sank as I know sitting for that long sets my knees and hips off but I was seen by male nurse about 15 mins later went for X-ray then not too long later was seen again just over 2 hours when we left it was filling up quite a bit the problem is some people go there when it's not necessary. I knew I needed an X-ray so no point going to GP. I read somewhere a week ago someone went for a verrucas on there foot. Being an ex nurse and having worked in casualty we used to get people in on a Sunday morning with sunburn which was ridiculous.

They were very busy, one lady who came in by ambulance was sat in the waiting room, when she found out the waiting times she walked out, such a waste of paramedics time xx

Thank you for all your lovely words will possibly find out on Thursday unless I have to go for another CT scan as sometimes they only show up on those apparently but already had 3 of these from previous falls and surgery. Just annoyed I missed rheumatology appt as that was really needed. But I guess August will be here before we know it. May everyone have a pain free day and the sun is shining and we have a bit of warm weather.

You might try getting help with balance exercises.  I had back/neck surgery for stenosis and pinched nerves and along with physical therapy for that they gave me exercises  on how to keep my balance and stop a fall from happeningl. It really helped me a lot.
