Hi all I have Comorbid BPD and in a wheelchair due to mini stroke, fibro & arthritis, to mention a few. I returned my ESA form March 1st with evidence and heard nothing back? I'm in support group at the moment and payment has still been the same. I requested a home visit also.
I don't understand what takes them so long to make a decision, and why different areas of the U.K. Get theirs sooner. I do hope they use the esa forms when I get changed to pip as this has been a nightmare, I did have an 'indefinite' award but no doubt that will change too.
Any advice would be great

I am so genuinely sorry to read of your medical conditions and everything that you have been forced to enure, and I sincerely hope that you can find some resolution and relief to them.
Sadly, when you change over from DLA to PIP you will have to make a fresh claim, which will entail all of the paper work. I have pasted you a link below explaining the move from DLA to PIP from the ''*Citizens Advice'' Cache, I have also paste you the link below this:
*PIP (Personal Independence Payment) is the benefit that’s gradually replacing DLA (Disability Living Allowance). If you’re on DLA and were 65 or older on 8 April 2013, these changes won’t affect you (you’ll stay on DLA and you don’t need to worry about PIP).
If you’re getting DLA at the moment, your claim will stop and you’ll need to claim PIP instead. This will happen even if you have a ‘lifetime’ or ‘indefinite’ award for DLA.
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) haven’t published the details of when people will have to claim PIP, so unfortunately we can’t be more specific than it happening at some point in the next 3 years.
You don’t automatically swap from one benefit to the other. You’ll get a letter in the post from the DWP to tell you that your claim for DLA will end and that you’ll need to make a new claim for PIP.
Many people on DLA will qualify for PIP but it isn’t guaranteed, and it’s possible that you’ll get a different rate than you do now.
You don’t need to do anything until the DWP writes to you.
When you’ll have to make a claim for PIP
If you’re on DLA and were under 65 on 8 April 2013, you’ll be asked to apply for PIP instead of DLA when any of the following happen:
your DLA ends because it was awarded for a fixed period of time - for example, for 5 years
you turn 16
your care or mobility needs change - for example, your condition changes or you have a long spell in hospital

As for your ESA, there are a backlog of claims at this time and I am so sorry but it is impossible to say when these will be completed. The only thing I can suggest is to keep ringing them and asking?
I returned mine on 8th March and not heard anything either. I returned PIP at the beginning of Jan and have my meeting next week. It's crazy how long it takes...
I've heard that some have waited 8/9 months for ESA meeting, I'm praying I don't have to wait that long!
Welcome to the forum. Yes as Ken has said the PIP has to be applied for by filling the PIP form when the time comes around. There has been evidence that the DWP has cross referenced claims to see what has been put on other applications you have made so hopefully that you are in the Support group for ESA will help but you still have to go through the process.
No it isn't fair that in some parts of the country decisions are made extremely quickly and in others it is so slow everyone in a fair world would be treated the same. I do hope you get a good decision.x
So sorry to hear that you have been waiting so long, it just prolongs the agony of the whole process.
In my area ESA claims happen really fast, since the 1st March I've had a medical, received a very dodgy rejection and had a mandatory appeal rejection all by the 14th April. Now I am working on my appeal.
Hello jk2833, those terrible forms are the bane of all our lives,,they take so much out of people filling them in,,and then those take so long to return the reply, the nerves get stretched and patience becomes short.
The pip is another animal of it's own,,,it is the replacement for the dla, and if it is still being done in blackpool and the esa is done in dwp area offices,,,,and sadly they do not use esa replies for the pip,,,I always photo copy my forms before sending them,,and then you could copy and use the information onto the pip forms,as some of the questions are on both sets, eg, conditions, medications,walking, etc., I hope your reply comes soon and when the pip forms arrive they do not give you too much stress, ,,ttfn from Karen.
Hi all just spoke to esa over phone told me I have been put in support group for a year but does anyone know when that would start from i had assessment on 23rd August decision was made this week just waiting on letters to confirm just wondering when I would have to be registered assesses thank you
Hi usually it's the date you first sent forms back but I have also heard of people getting the ESA from the date of the assessment. I think they make up their own rules.

Hi I am not sure if I am able to post this here but please delete if not allowed. There's a great site called benefits and work and has loads of useful info on appeals and dealing with these applications. I think there's a fee to subscribe and I am in no way associated with them but I've subscribed as my two boys get dla as they are autistic and they will need to move to Pip once they reach the correct age. I went through the pip process and was refused but at the time didn't have the know how to fight and appeal it so just accepted it. If you put into google 'Benefits and Work' the site will come up as the first result. Hope this helps.
Sorry it's been so long I got support group & enhanced PIp.
I also have a son with autism who needs to move to pip next year, hoping that will be a paper based decision as he won't talk to a stranger plus he can't express his feelings, social skills are a huge battle for him.
