Does anyone do trigger point massage? Any luck?

Or any massages at all?  I'm afraid to waste money on one, but I sure hurt.

Hi cctexan

I am so genuinely sorry to read that you are in so much pain, and I sincerely hope that you can find the answers that you are looking for. I have pasted you a link below that looks at different kinds of alternative therapies, including massage from an NHS & MacMillan pdf booklet, so I genuinely hope that you find this useful:

nhs.uk/ipgmedia/national/Ma...

Unfortunately I could not paste any of the trigger point massage links on to the open forum as they carry so many adverts for books and cd roms etc. However, if you google it you will find loads of information that you may find useful?

It is impossible to say if you would be wasting your money as it may work for you? I have had 3 massages (all deep muscles) and they made me feel worse. I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

Ken, that was really helpful!  We have a massage center nearby that offers many of those. I may try one... W fibro I think acupuncture is out as much as I believe in it

But I used to do reflexology myself for friends and I can't muster the strength anymore. I'm giving that a go today! My hubby and I are doing a double date hehe

Thanks, I did not get on with acupuncture as it left me in greater pain. Good luck with whichever you decide to try! I also hope that your double date with reflexology went well? :)

Lol. Nope no date yet.. He is working at the levees.  And it started flooding again this week. The rain does a number on the aches and pains!

I spent yesterday helping some new people starting to piece their lives over from their addictions, and when one does something as simple as giving a ride to a meeting and going for a meal with 15 loud happy sober folks... It gives me happiness, and perhaps them hope that they too can have a great future.

I'm grateful for what God took away, what he left me with and what he's going to do still!

Never heard of ACV being used in a massage. On hair, yes and the smell disappears when it's dry :-)

Well I went to dr yesterday... Apparently massaging a muscle stretches it but it rebounds by contracting tighter so I would need more and basically just traumatizes muscles.  Who knew?

I wen looking for an injection or something, but the m on steroids  for relief from an lingering chest cold forn5 weeks and prior to that I  had that spinal injections which was a waste.

They told me I had to jump thru xyz hoops before getting surgical relief from the neck nerve thing.  Well I jumped. And now they say it's only a 2 cm bulge so no surgery cus the pain is manageable😄😄😄😄 what a laugh.  The nerve is contracting my muscles in my right bicep and fingers.

I'd say that's bad.  Goofball drs. They are afraid of being sued. They see difficult patients here and only see liability. He even threw up the MCTD as a reason not to operate.

Oh and go pee in this s cup.  Even though I don't prescribe anything for you. That will be 45.00

I have massage often. My masseuse was still doing further training when I began seeing her. After the history taking and expectations we decided on a mix of methods depending on how much pain/heat etc I had and where, at the time.

Seven years later we are still experimenting, drawing on both of our experiences. Yesterday I decided a purely gentle aromatherapy massage was called for,  surprisingly I was energized, good/bad, I don't know as  I 'did' things though I am not in any more pain and I slept well :-)

Loz comes to my home, I haven't got curtains up in the living room yet but overlook fields and rarely see anyone passing........forgot it was meds. delivery day, poor Stewart :-P

I advise someone who uses different methods, Swedish (deep), sports, aroma, shiatsu, Thai, effleurage, lymphatic drainage, reflexology and someone who comes to your home if possible, there's nothing worse than undoing the effects of the therapy in travelling.

Good luck :-)

Ooh excellent points. Thanks

Whats lymphatic? Drainage?

Telynores profile image
Telynores in reply to cctexan

It helps stimulate the lymphatic system and encourages the flow of lymph fluid.

There is also a method working on connective tissue, can't remember the name, a shame as that's a useful one for us fibromites.
