Hi everyone, hope you're all having a "good" day. I'm off sick and fed up, not sure I'll ever manage to get back to work. Ho hum

Not much fun feeling like that. Take time to rest and don't be so hard on yourself. We can only do what we can do, we're not superhuman. Hope you feel better soon 🐸

I'm new to this, but if you want to chat please feel free, L.

You may be new to this but you're one perceptive cookie lol.

I have been where you are now. Not because of Fibro so much but Osteoarthritis. I can understand only too well what it feels like when it dawns on you that going back to work may never happen. I was 50 when I was medically retired after being off sick for a year. It wasn't me who wanted it! Not at the time. I had already endured six months half pay, now it was going to be cut yet again. I was terrified wondering how I was going to cope. On top of that there was a feeling of being chucked on the proverbial scrap heap. None of it my choice. The company occupational health Dr had said I wasn't allowed back to work as I became a 'health and safety liability'.

Now I wonder how I ever had time to work! It was very difficult at the time but now I'm happy I don't work. No more pretending I'm fine.

If you would like to chat to me about how you're feeling etc please feel free to drop me a private message 😊😊🐸

That's so kind of you...it's a scary time of change for all. Don't know how to private message but I appreciate your offer x

It's easy. You go to a post or reply for the person you want to message and click on their name. That brings up their profile page. In the bottom right hand corner (I think) is the word 'message' click on that and the message page appears!

That doesn't mean that I expect a message lol, it's just for your information should you need to use it. Main point is that you are ok 🐸

I'm off sick too and feel exactly the same about work, can I manage to go back etc. Worrying times,  thinking of trying to work from home. Hope things ease for you and you feel better soon. Take care kath

Yes that uncertainty when you are not sure whether you will be able to carry on working is horrible as I have worn the T shirt on that one.  I don't know whether you work full or part time and what you do but could any adjustments be made at work to make things easier for you?  Hope everything gets better for you.  Use your time off to really rest and recuperate and hopefully your pain levels will come down.ex

All physical adjustments have been made, but the emotional support is not there (& I'm not "needy"!) I work 32 hours as that's what my role requires. I have no choice but to rest but sleep and I never meet!

Thank you x

Sorry you are like me and a stranger to sleep we aren't even distant cousins.  I think that is half the problem with so many of us fibromites it is very difficult to function on little sleep or the none restive deep sleep.  Shame they have already made adjustments. It is just fingers crossed then that things pick up for you. X😄

Not great, and not a great time to be ill as our jobs are being "re-organised" . Boss assures me my job is still there, but everyone else has been appointed (& since she's downsizing, there will be 1-2 who lose their jobs) & very obviously expects me to retire 😱 Whilst I know this is an option I cannot afford to leave and so the torment continues...should I, shouldn't I...can I can't I?!!!

That is a conundrum it is according to how ill you feel and how long you have been ill as to the reality of the situation.  Are you waiting for any appts. or treatments that might help you or have you been on the same meds for some time having pursued all other option's?

You can't be chosen to go because of ill health as that is discrimination.  If you do decide that is the best thing ask for redundancy which will hopefully give you enough money to look around for something that you could find easier to do. Have you investigated what benefits you might be eligible for as some times the money situation can be helped that way?

I was finished through ill health and was devastated at the time as I adored my job as an advisor but I realistically knew that with the pain and fatigue there was no way I could any longer do my job to the standards I set myself.  I would have been happy to work after official retirement age but I know everyone isn't like this. I know many people have felt it a relief to actually finish as they could then spend all their energy on trying to be as well as they could be.x

Hi

My heart goes out to you I was in the same position last year 4 months off sick and could not see how I would even be able to look after myself alone yet go back to work but after a lot of rest I did manage  to some days are worst than others but I just take a day at a time .

Good luck

Hi I'm in the same boat. I'm going back to work after being off for six months .

I am worried about going back. I think I have lost my confidence as I have been very ill.  I have accepted that I have Fibro. but I do get ever so tired. If I have to give up again I will feel so angry with myself. X

Will be rooting for you in your return, I know I'm not the only one who empathises with the loss in confidence. Hope work are gentle with you and you pace yourself xx
