Just to say thank you ALL for your support. I am in the early period of just being diagnosed and strange as it seems I'm taking stock and trying to hopefully get over myself :-) Happy new year xx

Hi Mandy, I'm fairly newly diagnosed too having suffered for many years prior to formal diagnosis. Initially I was relieved...actually delighted... (it was conclusive proof I was not mad, hyperchondriac) . However when someone said it will never go, I went into denial questioning what might happen if I didn't take the medication I was prescribed and basically rejecting the idea of a chronic condition that might affect my life as I knew it. I have 90% accepted it now and have found enormous support, the most support in fact, from this site. There are ups and downs with a diagnosis, but then life is full of that. You just gotta roll with it and on the days when you can't, everyone on here will be waiting to help you through.

Hello Mandy

I have had Fibro over 30 years and I can honestly say that I still haven't completely come to terms with it. I have yet to learn to pace myself!

My thoughts would be not to push yourself too hard with taking stock of it all. It can take some people years to come to terms with everything that goes with having a chronic condition, and some of us never completely do.

It is very common to have the reaction you are having so please don't think of it as "strange" because it's not.

Wishing you all the very best.

Lu xx

I too have not long found out that I have fibromyalgia, and I can honestly say that this forum has helped me a lot, knowing that people are on here with lots of good advice and lots and lots of support, helps me to laugh and also have a moan without being judged xx

Yes Erica, being judged says more about others that ourselves. Have you accepted your fibro or do you fight against your diagnosis? Thank you for responding :-)

I have started to except it but I hate having to as well, it's so frustrating having to ask for help,as I was always very independent, it's horrible when people don't understand what's wrong with you as they can't see "" it"" they don't think there's anything wrong with you. I've been called lazy because I have to go to my bed sometimes, and its so depressing because I'm not lazy and never have been, so I then try to shove myself to do things and then I'm ill ten times worse than before , it's a vicious circle but that's the joys!! I also have OA in my knees and hands which doesn't help, narrowing of the spinal cord, cervical stenosis and lower lumbar stenosis and asthma. Constant chest infections so I'm at the stage I just give up and I'm at the pains clinic who is helping me to try and except it xx

Please be assured that whatever moral support you need is right here. Go to your bed when you need to and if others call you lazy just state that you are looking after yourself because you can only really rely on yourself. Take care x

Good to take your time,,access and get the medical plan and medication into use,,,, now just take your time and do things in your own time,,,,try not to push yourself to hard,,your body is in the process dealing with the medical conditions and you have to allow this time,,, getting to grips with a medical condition takes your brain time to process the pain episodes,,,and the medications they require,,,,take your time,,Karen.
