Hi Ems, and welcome to our very friendly forum 😊😊

Firstly could I suggest that you take a peep at our mother site fmauk.org where you will find a wealth of information .

With regards to anyone's story, you only have to scroll down through a few pages and you will get an idea of some peoples journeys with fibro.

You will also note that there are a fair few "fun" posts which some of us enjoy as we feel that laughter releases feel good endorphins which can help one through difficult times.

I very much look forward to getting to know you better seeing you around the forum, just jump in and everyone will give you as much support and information as they can 😊😊😊😊😊

Hi Ems16

Welcome to the forum and it is wonderful to make your acquaintance. I sincerely hope that you find it useful, informative and loads of fun! I can see that our Foggy has given you the link to our mother site, Fibromyalgia Action UK which hosts loads of useful Fibro information.

I was wondering if you have discussed or are being prescribed suitable pain medication? As this in my opinion is a first. Many sufferers do cope well enough with alternative treatments but I think it is down to the individual.

I am on quite a bit of medication but I also use a TENS Machine for my pain as I find it very useful, and they are quite cheap these days. It may be worth discussing a referral to physiotherapy with your GP if you have not already? I want to genuinely and sincerely wish you all the best of luck.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Hi COFFEEPOT222

Fibromyalgia is diagnosed by eliminating other possible illnesses such as Thyroid issues, Multiple Sclerosis, Nerve Damage etc. Once they have done this then you get a diagnosis of Fibromyalgia Syndrome. Ironically enough many Fibro sufferers do suffer with a secondary illness such as Arthritis, and sometimes multiple illnesses to go along side their Fibro.

I was diagnosed a few years ago after constantly suffering a great deal of pain in several parts of my body. I also have Arthritis, Osteoporosis, Migraines, Asthma, COPD and no Coccyx, just to mention a few. After being referred to a private consultant and seeing an Osteopath and a private GP, I was diagnosed with Fibro on top of my other illnesses.

Most members (but by no means all) have been diagnosed by a Rheumatologist who would have performed a series of examinations looking for tender points around the body. This will help confirm their diagnosis.

I want to gneuinely and sincerely wish you all the best of luck.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken
