Pip assessment physical

Can anyone advise me please.

I politely declined the physical part of pip assessment due to the pain I was in already, and that I didn't want to cause anymore pain during and after assessment , would that have an affect on the decision ? As I've been awarded standard care for 8 points, and no mobility scoring only 4 points, I constantly use 2 crutches everywhere so am unable to physically cook as kitchen 2 small to have a stool used safely, I have my sister who helps with everything apart from wiping my bottom as that's not right for me to allow her to do that.... but other than that she's my saviour with all that she does for me .....

Hi did you say you could walk round a super market ? If you did that's would have affected your assessment ,I would re pin my pip recollection for you and perhaps it might help ,but your post is not locked and I don't post personal stuff on a un locked post , so sorry you can appeal , but you can also just do a fresh appeal perhaps you should talk to Janet about it . On Monday Ken will be about in a bit , and I am sure he will point you in the right direction

Hugs

Chris

Ps if you go into your post and lock it ,I will re post for you x

How do I lock my post ?

Hi Sharon.

When you write your post and you come to the very end you will see the question "who is the post for". There are two answers Everyone and Communiry. If you tick everyone it can be accessed by people outside of the Fibromyalgia Forum but if you tick Community it becomes locked so only people who have signed up to this forum can read it. Hope that helps.x

Hi. I'm wondering how you tell if someone elses post is locked or not. Is it that if you see the share this with FB or twitter icons then it is open. Is it locked if the symbols are not there. Or is there some other way to tell. Tx.

Unless I've misunderstood I believe you need to lock your post when you are actually writing it for the first time, I'm not sure if you can do it retrospectively. When you click on "write a post" there should be two buttons at the bottom saying everyone or community. You need to select community and this will lock the post. It will also mean it shows a padlock in the top right hand corner of the post. That is what tells other people that your post is locked.

Again, unless I am mistaken, I think once the initial post is locked, then so are the replies. I think that is true because I haven't seen any way of locking your message if you click on reply to someone elses post.

At least that is my understanding so if I've got it wrong anyone please tell me.

Hi Sharon48

I am so genuinely sorry to read that, and I sincerely hope that you can find some resolution to this issue. The issue here is about capability and not pain levels. You may be able to do something but it is painful. However, you may be physically incapable of doing something but it may not hurt to try, so there is a difference. What they are interested in during any assessment is what you can or cannot do and not any pain levels.

If you wanted to appeal the decision you can do this, but I would get professional help and advice in doing so as what you have already been awarded is also at stake. I have pasted you a link below to our FMA UK benefit helpline that you may find useful:

fmauk.org/contactsmenu/help...

The CAB (Citizens Advice Bureau) also have a benefits section that you may find useful and they can appoint somebody to act for you. I have also pasted you a link to their benefits cache:

citizensadvice.org.uk/benef...

I want to genuinely and sincerely wish you all the best of luck with any appeal that you may lodge.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

Thank you Ken! I will take a look at these tomorrow as I've exhausted my brain writing back to Shadows-walker lol ,

Just 1 question for you or anybody who maybe of help !

I've put in for mandatory reconsideration, and I've told dwp that I'm still waiting for assessment report after asking 3 times, I've got until 27th November to get my reasons and anything else that may help,

If I still haven't received report week before, will I have lost my chances of reconsideration or can I ask for more time?

Thank you for any replies of helpful information! ☺

I do not believe that you can ask for more time but if you explain that you have not had the reports then you may get a special dispensation. As far as I a aware it is two separate departments that deal with these things so there does not appear to be any coordination between them but I should not be surprised about that! Good luck with this :)

I had my pip assessments yesterday, feel I may have screwed myself tho cos she offered to take my bag but I declined I am funny don't let anyone hold my bag its a paranoid thing. I couldnt do half the movements but she didn't ask about my anxiety, depression or sciatic pain only the osteoarthritis, is that normal, I deffo put in these things when I 1st applied 2 months ago. Have they been ignored I wonder.

I want to genuinely and sincerely wish you all the best of luck with your outcome :)

HI Sharon,

I had assessor tell me wouldn't do a physical due to my pain (I pointed out at start)..I queried if she should do and said no so never told her not to.

Just wondered if you got any further on this.
