Went to see the hygienist today and she fully agreed with me....no sign of any gum disease thinks its the stress of my surgery just playing havoc with my mouth....told me a few exercises to try help with the jaw pain and said I may need a gum shield made in future if its an ongoing problem....arm is still quite sore and tender and I am still feeling a bit wiped out....I'll get there albeit a bit more slowlyRome wasn't built ina day

Indeed it wasn't. Use whatever tools you can to help the situation.

Hi
I've had a gum shield for years now, even before ME and fibro. Apparently I grind my teeth at night and that used to cause dreadful jaw pain, the kind that makes you really miserable. My dentist said it was caused by grinding my teeth and he would make a shield for me. I said I didn't believe him but I had to apologise to him and eat my words because just a few weeks of wearing the shield at night and sometimes during the day if it was bad has made such a difference.
I still have a very clicky jaw but nothing like the pain I used to get. If that's what your dentist recommends I would definitely give it a go, I'm so glad I did. It's not very sexy but so much better than that grinding pain.xx
