I am a 43 year old woman who feels like 90.I have had plaque radiotherapy for cancer in my iris fibromialgia copd mental health problems incontinence problems. I now have developed swollen arms and feet/ankles. My doc put me on water tablets to try and reduce the swelling but they didn't work ad if I needed to wee myself more. I was just wondering if this is just the fibromialgia playing up or could it be linked to radiotherapy as I recently heard about a thing called lyfodenma. Don't know whether to ask the doc about this as I might as well just live in the surgery. Any comments on what I should do would be greatly appreciated

Hi everyone
Hi Eileen
Welcome to the site.
I personally do not have any incontinence problems although when I do need to go it has to be right now.
I think your swelling is probably to do with the COPD rather than the FM but I am not an expert.
Don't know anything about radiotherapy so can't comment, although I am going for breast cancer tests on the 19th so I may be introduced to this in the very near future.
Perhaps you could ask your GP about the swelling
I know weeing more is extremely annoying but better out than in.
I take it you use continence pads - perhaps you could access more heavy duty ones so that you are less uncomfortable??
I hope you get to the bottom of it soon xx
I hope that you get the all clear on the 19th. It's scary waiting for the appointment to come. Spoke to the doctor on the phone and all she said was to take servadol every 4 hours for the pain. Where the swelling was concerned all she said was that there was no point of giving me anymore water tablets as they didn't do any good the first time and to keep taking servadol
Oh gosh I am sorry you are suffering so badly. Have you not had any more tests re your treatment?
I am trying not to think too much about the 19th, although my lump is getting bigger so I think I know the outcome already.
I just wish it was over and done with because my kids keep asking me what is wrong.
They keep telling me i am distant but I can't tell them until I know myself ;-(
It is good to speak to somebody xx
I am so genuinely sorry to read all of that and I sincerely hope that you can find some resolution and relief to these issues. I have Lymphoedema and my feet / ankles swell up quite badly. I have pasted you a link to the NHS Choices cache on this issue:

I want to genuinely and sincerely wish you all the best of luck.
All my hopes and dreams for you
