Hi there, she was more friendly this morning and very chatty(like she doesn't stop talking to let someone else speak-meant in a nice way),think chat with the practice manager helped.??one good thing about this surgery is dont have to wait for over appt time actually went in 15 minutes early as they have few patients bad thing is unwelcoming unfriendly atmosphere to the place.

stool sample showed up some abnormalities which she said wasn't sure if related to diverticulitis or she asked if i had any signs of blood or mucus.said no but have had blood shows in the past. thats a start I suppose after three years of dismissal.got referral to gastroenterologist.told her I was concerned that abdo more distended, sore and heavier since Friday.said she was going to email gastroenterologist so hopefully will be quick in sending an appt.

mentioned endocrinilogy to confirm acromegaly or not and whether it is an "age thing"??I know people "shrink" as they get older but to get bone growth is poss hormone related .hate living with enlarged facial features.

just hope I don't have to wait too long.still have concerns about the causes of everything.if it was just IBS or another more serious complaint my dogs wouldn't be so concerned or behaving the way they have for the last two + years especially since Buster is constantly rubbing his head on my thigh,

(dogs known to do this when they sense something is wrong in their owners ie cancer).I know there is nothing wrong with him.

forgot to mention possible prolapse and TVT /gynae referral??

Everyone has bad days even GP's you need to give her a chance. You have got the referral you wanted, and please stop referring to IBS as "Just IBS" it is a very painful and debilitating condition some sufferers are housebound and in severe pain because of it. Dogs will always pick up on our feelings so your dogs are probably only aware that you are stressed and depressed. Two things on our bodies that do not stop growing are our ears and nose this is more pronounced in some people than others

in reply to tracynoe

i heard that somewhere too but we would all end up like Pinocchio ands Big Ears if the kept on growing??!!! gp having suggested it s hormone related so until confirmation from endocrinology ,then there is the pain/bruising and nosebleeds.

Hi there.what was the diagnosis for your distension/swelling and how did you get "back to normal"?

That's great, ChocolateAddict - it sounds like you're getting somewhere with this doctor. Let's hope all these tests put your mind at rest. Good luck with it!

in reply to CarolineC57

thankyou CarolineC for your positive reply and good luck wishes.it s about time I had some answers instead of being told "we don't have answers".I cant put things out of my mind so easily-too much damage done by previous gp(being incorrectly labeled as obese being one of them.) and my dogs' concern.

Great news about doctor! Dogs are wonderful dectives! I agree IBS is very painful I myself have gone to ER for the pain! I have even been in hospital for it. Hopefully they can find out what is wrong. Please don't think the worst though. You don't know what is wrong. Dogs sense your pain and your thoughts! They will respond to that. As the Brits ( think I got this right) keep a stiff upper lip!

thank you. i know I don't have IBS.i do have all the abdo /colon conditions so it is either what is causing them or are they the cause of distension?my distension is persistent not intermittent and no constipation diarrheoa or cramps that go with it.It was only ever "suggested" not diagnosed.my abdomen has become so heavy walking Is slow and painful.the dr asking if I had any blood or mucus in my stools .said no.they are a sign of cancer.my dogs have been like it solidly for a couple of years now and no change in their behavior.yes dog s do sense pain thoughts but they also sniff out diseases in their owners/tell when their owner is due to have an epileptic fit./seizure etc.mine is sniffing around my pelvic area a lot more now.

trying to move on but so hard cos of lack of support/being fobbed off etc from my previous Gp. and anger at some of what he has put in my notes

I don't know where i would be without the support of most of you.

I wish you all the best. Now I understand your worry. Is there anyway you get a new GP or even get a appt. with a gastroenterologist? Or do you have to get a referral? I truly wish I knew the words to help you with all of this. There are times when I wish I had a magic wand! I would send it to you. I am not making light of anything. I had a family member who I considered my best friend pass due to cancer. I am sorry that I can't talk about. I made her laugh and she told me it helped. Hugs

thank you.i am with a new gp now and we can only see a consultant by referral from GP.my main worry is my stomach -the main reason for my weight gain and having to wear a coat all the time even when its a hot day to hide my huge stomach.you have to make light of somethings.my records show "obesity" based on BMI which cant be taken as gospel cos it doesnt show where the distribution of weight is.no gp has ever accepted i havent eaten cakes biscuits snacks and puddings for 8 years and only breakfast and a small meal and kept telling me i needed to lose weight but they wouldnt accept that i ate so little and that it was all abdomnal not down to diet or lack of exercise(having two dogs),

An ex work colleague/friend lost his wife to cancer almost two years ago and she was told originally that she had a bowel problem when it was OC all along.
