Just found out I'm pregnant!!

Hey guys. Well the title says it all. I will be 41 next month, I have fibromyalgia and I have just found out I'm pregnant. Luckily I had decided to wean myself off the amitriptyline 6 weeks ago but now I will have to come off some of my many supplements too.

My reason for posting is to ask if anyone has any tips or is in the same situation. I have already had to start using my walking stick every day now and my tiredness levels are in overdrive. I need to phone the Dr in the morning and get an appointment. I am currently struggling to work a 5 day week.

Baby comes first so life will have to adjust for that but all hints and tips will be gratefully received.

Gentle hugs to all

Xxx

I can't give any tips as I have unfortunately never had the joy of having a baby but I would like like to say how happy I am for you. I am sure the baby will bring so much happiness into your life and I know alot of people with RA have a long period of remission when pregnant so you never know you might find your health improves.

Let us know how you are doing and be gentle with yourself and the little one and get all the rest you can.x

Congratulations :) I have no advice for you as my fibro kicked in well after I had my children. I hope all goes well for you.

Hi LC74

Congratulations, that's lovely news, the only thing I can suggest for temporary pain relief & mobility, is get into a swimming pool, just walk up & down if you can't swim as the water supports your muscles & walking will help keep your joints a little less tight & stiff hugs x

Congratulations and good luck, LC74. Try and take as much rest as you can - you won't get much time for yourself once baby's here, so best start building up stores of energy - plus in the later stages of your pregnancy you'll feel the need to rest, so if you can, look into reducing your hours at work. I felt dragged down with tiredness when I had my two, plus awful 'morning' sickness, (mine was at all times of day, and work expected me back at work in the afternoons if I phoned in too sick to go in with this!), too. Plus back ache, piles and gallstones! Aside from all that, I enjoyed being pregnant, (honest!), feeling the kicks and movement inside me, it was such a wonderful feeling, I hope everything goes well for you and hope you too experience this feeling, gentle hugs, Julie xxxx

I was 48 when I had my son. Send me an email address and I will send you my baby recipe. Took me 18 months to research. I got pregnant 17 times. My son is 12 now and perfect. :)

Thank you all for your congrats and advice. I really appreciate you taking the time to reply.

Foxkennedy21.....believe me we had actually resigned ourselves to it never happening. We stopped trying. No lies. We had a relaxed weekend off work and this is the result!! Can't believe it ourselves. I am a great believer in what is meant for you will not go by you. Don't put yourselves under pressure to conceive. Relax and have fun.

Hugs to everyone xx

Congratulations! :)

I have a 3 year old and have had Fibro for 8 years. I found the first part of pregnancy quite good but unfortunately had quite bad morning sickness (well 24/7 for several weeks) so this made me feel quite bad. I had opted for a potential water birth & my nearest was at another hospital that was not where pregnant ladies would go in our area as a rule. i thought the Gynae was understanding of Fibro but it turned out he wasn't at all! i asked him to keep an eye on my B12 levels as if they drop it seems to make my Fibro symptoms worse. They do not even need to go below the 200 (set level GP's treat) before I feel bad, in fact Dr Choy when at St Guys - London asked my GP Practice to treat at borderline low 240. Long story short he didn't mention to anyone it had dropped & I only realised when I asked for my levels! End of pregnancy was the same as anyones I think - everyone is feeling like it's time, due to weight & feeling you want the baby to come already!

I spoke to my comunity midwife who was FAB & very understanding - she did some enquiries to find the most suitable Gynae Consultant who understood Fibro. This helped immensely. So my top tip would be ask your Midwife advice about Consultant best for you & your situation. Labour was fine, in fact less pain than I've experienced with Fibro to be honest, she did get stuck and needed forceps in the operating theatre but all was OK!

Hope recalling my experiences help a little :)

Best Wishes

Emma :)

Hi guys

A wee update.

Unfortunately my little bean decided to grow in the wrong place. I am currently being treated for an ectopic pregnancy. It's horrible.

Gotta stay positive tho. At least I now know I can conceive. Obviously this little one wasn't meant for this world.

Hopefully we will try again in 3 or 4 months

Hi LC74,. I realise its a while since you updated and I just came to your page today and feel so sorry for your loss, of the so-very-little one, due to the ectopic pregnancy.

I am thinking of you warmly, and I would like to sincerely wish you a gentle recovery and a safe harbour for you and your husband to regather.

And I feel your beautiful spirit and courage, after such an experience.

Beautiful too, that you are staying so positive (whilst realising the likely natural ebbs and flows of feelings at this time)...and that you and your husband will try again, perhaps in 3 or 4 months or whenever you are genuinely ready.

All my genuine hopes for you both. Xxx
