Dropped Foot Syndrome

Hi Has anyone in this group got dropped Foot syndrome? It is where the foot continually points down and it is quite painful to raise the foot so its level, or to walk up hills as it pushes the foot the wrong way.

Hi Angeldancea812,

Have you had it checked by the Dr? It could be quite a few different things that are underlying. I've not had it but I know someone else without fibro who did. You may need referring to the hospital for checks. Better safe than sorry, hope it gets sorted.

Hi Angeldance812

I am so sorry to read that you are suffering with this, and I genuinely hope that you find the answers that you so desperately desire and deserve. It is not something that I have come across but good luck with this, and as Rachel1973 says, please get it checked out with your GP.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

Hi

I suffer with this and often wear down or rip the sole of my shoe as I stumble

I have been given a " foot lift " at the hospital which stops the foot dropping (obviously )

Get your GP to refer you to the Foot Clinic / orthotics at your hospital

I do know a lot of people who have declined surgery for various reasons

Good luck

I have been referred to the hip and knee clinic because we thought at first it was the joint and having seen her on Wednesday with the dropped foot she is now sending me to the Neuropathy Department. I expect somewhere between the lot I'll end up in the right department.

When I read the NHS Choices site it suggested this could be a part of MS, Has that been suggested to you, or do you see it as part of the fibro?

Hi

Initially I was diagnosed with Mortons Neuroma ( trapped nerve in the foot ) It was then found that I was dragging my foot - then I was diagnosed with drop foot as well

XMy left foot feels like it's dropping and I ask people if it looks odd when I walk. Apparently not - but I do suffer from complete numbness of my leg from the knee downwards, and have tripped up several times. I once fell on a beach in Cornwall and had to rescued by the inshore lifeboat as an ambulance could not get to me!!

Thanks for your reply. My foot definitely drops and I am going to be assessed for MS by the neurologist. I have trouble walking along a flat pavement when I am tired as I can't lift my foot. Glad I don't live up a steep hill!!
