Any advice would be greatful , I was diagnosed with cervcal cancer around 8 years ago after a histeretomy, chemo and radiothopy docs were confident that it's clear I still have check up every year , after all my treatment my mum said I'll feel like a new woman 7 years ago but I don't really , it was little things first hip pain then back pain neck pain so went to docs , after a few visits over couple years doc says its fibromyalgia and gave me amitriptyline and sent me to a rumatologist who was not helpful at all , about a year and half ago I was really stuggling at work stacking bread and was going home in tears every nite because of the pain so I had to have a meeting at work about my job role luckily they moved me on to light dutys on another department it's almost a year now and I feel very lucky to have been moved because I just couldn't keep going on , iv learnt to try and manage my pain a little walking helps and swimming and I always have hot bath in morning to get moving if I do too much I pay for it , For the past year iv been getting chest pain and my memory has been bad I try and set reminders and make notes at work it's embarrassing somtimes tho because people laugh , been really busy at work run up to christmas and I was feeling pain more hips back neck wrists and the chest pain and constant headache and I feel like iv got morning sickness any smell or anything not nice I'm nearly sick and I smell things that other people can't but it's constant burning in my stomach snd stuggling what to eat and cook so went docs again and told him about chest pain and my sickness and he said it's the fibromyalgia that was it I walk out got home and cryed I just don't know what to do , please if anyone got any advice I would be greatful I'm 40 year old mother of 2boys of 11 and 14 but I feel like 140 thanks you for reading

Hi Helenchic

I am so sorry to read of how you have suffered and what you are still going through, and I genuinely hope that you can find some resolution and relief to these issues. I am not a doctor so I cannot make a diagnosis, but what you have described is what I go through with my Fibro? I have pasted you a link below to our mother site, FibroAction which hosts loads of useful Fibro information from treatments to diagnosis:

FibroAction Website:

fibroaction.org

I was wondering if you had applied for PIP (Personal Independence Payment)? which is a disability benefit that is payable dependent on your illness regardless of whether or not you work. I have pasted you the GOV.UK link to this in case you are interested in applying:

GOV.UK - How To Claim PIP:

gov.uk/pip/how-to-claim

I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck and please let us all know how you are getting on?

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

Hi Helenchic, sorry that you are having such an awful time at the moment, maybe the extra work around Christmas has caused a flare up? I would definately visit the GP again and if they are not able to help then maybe try another? There are lots of things that they could offer, anti sickness medication, which I have to use as and when, and maybe look at changing your pain meds if they are not working anymore , and also a referral to a pain clinic. Hope things improve soon for you. Take care. X

Hello what helped me when i was first diagnosed was a series of videos on you tube.

They could be a bit out of date now, but should still be helpful. The link is lifeafterpain.com/info/fibr...

I hope it helps,
