Hi Larissa

I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? That is quite a coincidence with the Evening Primrose Oil, as my wife and I had a similar conversation at her MS group meeting! However, my wife's MS Nurse Specialist says it really doesn't do much for men, just with ladies issues.

I have pasted you a section from the Evening Primrose Website so I hope that you find it useful:

TAKEN FROM THE EVENING PRIMROSE WEBSITE:

Evening Primrose Oil Benefits

Nowadays, evening primrose oil is taken in capsule form and considered by many as an effective treatment for the following conditions.

Eczema

People diagnosed with eczema typically suffer from skin irritations such as scaling, redness or inflammation, crusting, and itchiness as well as oozing out liquids or edema. Eczema typically occurs as an allergic reaction although other causes are possible.

Since the 1930’s, evening primrose oil has been used to treat this condition. There have also been over 30 studies that show subjects enjoying relief from the symptoms of eczema as well as other skin conditions like dermatitis. This is a well-known evening primrose oil benefit in the medicinal world.

Arthritis

Evening primrose oil is considered by many to be effective in treating arthritis, especially rheumatoid arthritis since, like eczema, it is an inflammatory condition. In this case, it is possible to apply EPO as oil for massaging affected areas for immediate relief.

PMS or Dysmenorrhea

Evening primrose oil benefits are also considered to be quite helpful in alleviating most of the painful symptoms of PMS, dysmenorrhea and other conditions caused by menstruation or menopause. A number of studies also show that evening primrose oil benefits are effective in reducing breast pain or tenderness, bloating, and mood swings.

Other Evening Primrose Oil Benefits

EPO is also widely known as being rich in essential fatty acids, which consequently enable it to offer a number of additional health benefits as well as improve overall growth & development.

Treat acne and other similar conditions

Any problem caused by acne may be treated using evening primrose oil as its essential fatty acids can help reduce the amount of sebum present. Sebum is what causes the skin to produce excess oil, which then leads to acne and other similar skin problems. EPO is also effective for reducing inflammation that sometimes takes place due to serious acne problems.

Lower cholesterol levels and reduce of hypertension

Evening primrose oil is also rich particularly in omega 3 fatty acids. Similar to fats and cholesterol's, there are also good and bad types of omega 3 fatty acids, but evening primrose oil is rich with the good kind and the one that can help lower bad cholesterol levels and minimize chances of having a stroke or heart problem caused by high blood pressure.

Evening primrose oil benefits are in abundance and it is a diverse oil and supplement that can offer help and alleviation in lots of scenarios.

I want to wish you all the best of luck if you decide to give it a try.

All my hopes and dreams for you

I know this might sound daft but my friend's vet told her to give her dog one capsule of Evening Primrose Oil each day to help his arthritis and itchy skin problems. I tried it with my dog but all she got was the trots and I am afraid when I tried it I was the same and felt slightly sick all the time but I haven't tried it massaged into the joints so that on my part is certainly worth a try it sounds a bit like WD40! Let us know if you try it what happens.x

I've just started taking it so I think it's a bit early to have any benefits from it, fingers crossed though. Let me know how you get on.

it takes about 3 months to build up and many people find that getting off gluten reduced my need for it after taking it for 10 years successfully. Gluten causes problems with nutrient uptake for many people and only going off for 6 month showed that my joints and other auto immune issues where connected to not being able to absorb nutrients. I took a chance and went off primrose after getting off gluten and found i no longer needed it unless I had an attack from contaminated food. Hope this helps
