I need some advise regarding my recent Atos medical & how to go about appealing? I'm currently suffering a bad relapse & the stress around this matter isn't helping.

Hi there slingblade 96 :)

I'm chuckling because I didn't see this post of yours so have replied to your other one :o

The best thing to do is to contact your local Citizens Advice Bureaux or advisary service at the earliest opportunity to ask for help with your appeal. You will need to gather all information you can including appointment and consultant letters to help with your case :)

This link takes you to our benefit section of our Mother site which contains a lot of useful information and web-links which could help you through the process.

I find gov.uk a useful site too :)

You may be able to request a home visit too from someone at the CAB if you require it, here's the website for you to check it out :)

citizensadvice.org.uk/

You're not alone in this and there are many of our members going through it who will be along to offer you support or advice if they can even if it's just a hug for comfort :)

Don't be afraid to ask any further questions and look forward to seeing you around, soft fluffie hugs and smiles for you

xxx sian :)

I've only just managed to track down your reply. I'm so exhausted & stressed out. I can't seem to get my head round any of this. I've recently lossed my beloved father &this yr is proving to be the worst ever! I feel like heading for the nearest lake!

in reply to slingblade96

Sorry about that :o

Please don't find a lake just yet, give yourself some time to find your way around and get used to it.

Any navigational questions regarding the site/forum can be found by clicking on help next to the bell symbol on the green bar at the top of the screen.

I have a green bar at the top & just descovered that if u press the 3white lines on it ( top left). ..it takes you to a list o things ...inc the bell lol. Thanx. Being on my own & also on a relapse certainly isnt helping my predicament. Appreciated your replies...when I finally found em. I just don't know where to start! Finding out your income support is going to be stopped in 19dys is hardly enough notice for someone who's well! Especially as I now have more things to pay, thanx to the government s intro of 'The Bedroom Tax' & also making us pay part of the 'Council Tax' I just don't know how I will be able to cope? How can you find the energy to fight the system? They got away with murders when I was 1st ill because I was unable to even hold my head up, let alone fill out forms. Even when I was able to, I got knocked back twice. Eventually a friend got it through the 3rd time. For many years they were paying me far less than I was entitled

Don't know why I'm telling you all this, as its all irrelevant, its now that needs sorting. I just don't understand how everything takes sooo long, yet they are able to slash your money within days!!! Nothing makes sense to me anymore. I'm still grieving for my dad & this is all too much:(

I have had many battles over the years to get benefits and have suffered long term anxiety for the most part too.

I think the key is to believe you can do it and try to remain positive even though everything appears to be going against you. It is difficult and here on the forum we try to help and support each other through the rough times of it. We like to care and share here so, hopefully, you won't feel so alone with this very soon.

Call Citizen's advice and ask for an appointment or even ask to speak to someone they are there to help if they can :)

Have you looked on benefitsandwork.com they are pretty good too :)

We're not allowed to discuss the politics behind it all as it breaks community guidelines but many of us here share the rotten feelings regarding the energy we have to give up when fighting for our entitlements as energy is always in short supply.

Please let us know how you get on with the CAB and wishing you a successful outcome :)

Afraid from past experiences, I'm not too enthralled with the CAB. I thought I might get some help from the D.A.B.D? Problem is, my phone has stored my numbers ...but seems to have eaten the contacts names etc. Or perhaps the mobs is coming out in sympathy with me & throwing a hopefully...Temporary Wobbly lol.

Hello Slingblade96, Sorry for not replying to your first message, I pop in and out the site when I can and don't always see everything or manage to reply, I am afraid I don't know who D.A.B.D.

I used a local organistation here in Milton Keynes who offer all sorts of help and information on any disability issue for disabled people, their families, carers etc and they were a great help.

Also try looking at the link others have replied with as the more information and sources of help you have the better.

I hope today finds you a little better than yesterday.

Blessings Be

Many thanks for your message. As I'm feeling so low at the moment, everything seems to be going over my head. I just can't explain the injustice I feel right now. I know there are many ppl going through the same thing & whilst I do truly feel for them, it doesn't lighten the load. I feel very isolated & need someine 2take it all away. I am not a selfish person & have always helped others, butnow II'm in awful trouble & there doesn't seem to be anyone who cares. Now my dad has gone, life is just empty!! X

I am sorry about your Dad and the emptiness his loss has left you and I am wondering if you have spoken to your GP about the way you're feeling as he/she may be able to help you through the pain and sadness. It may mean medications and/or treatments but they maybe will help you through such a dark time.

Please don't be offended by my next suggestion but if you feel really low and need someone to talk to ASAP you can call the Samaritans for free and confidential advice or chat.

You don't have to go through your grief alone :) xx

I've been down the rd of anti deps& finally managed to get off them in 2011. As my Gp said with my other meds it heightened the chance of heart attacks. Thanx for the advise tho.x

Hello my fibro friend,

Firstly, I send my condolences for the loss of your father. I lost my dad at the age of 16, he was my best friend too. It really does sound like you need some help, as I feel your frustration. I also got to the point you are sadly at and felt the world closing in. All the so called friends that you were there for seem to disappear when you need them most. I hope you don't mind me saying but your doctor doesn't sound very good. I know it's the last thing you feel like doing but please get a second opinion, as taking antidepressants has saved me from falling further down that dark hole of depression. I may need them for the rest of my life, but if that's what it takes, then so be it. I hope this message reaches you my fibro friend. Blessed be. ☺️

Hello Rachel. Its actually M.E & osteoporosis amongst other things I suffer from. Your correct about my doctor not being very good, but I have my reasons 4staying at his practice. My main concern rite now, is to do something about my Atos medical report & I'm still waiting for it to arrive in the post. I've been advised by the decision maker who rang me, 2apply for job seekers allowance. I still can't believe I have to do that, as I'm fit for nothing!! I think the whole worlds gone crazy& this country only seems to help ..dare I say immigrants. I've never been a racist, but I think whilst they are shaking up the benefits system, it shouldn't give to them at the cost of its own....especially the sick. I have a job just getting through the day, without having to fight yet again for something I should & am entitled to. Sorry to ramble on, but I had to go thru all this at the beginning & was too I'll to fight the system then. I think after the way I've been treated previously, its so wrong that I'm being put in this position again. Anyway, now I've had a good moan, I thank you for your message & hope that life it being kinder to you.x
