All my test results have come back clear I do not have Ankylosing spondylitis and my GP has given me a diagnosis of Fibromyalgia and extreme hypermobility. She is referring me to the pain clinic. Still in shock not sure what happens now

Hi mrsbear85

I sincerely hope that you are well today? When you go for your first appointment at the Pain Management Clinic you will be assessed by a Specialist and then you should be given advice and pain management medications. They will go through everything with you when you are there.

I have pasted you a link from NHS Choices and getting help with pain:

NHS Choices - Getting help with your pain:

I want to wish you all the best of luck, and I will keep my fingers crossed for you that your appointment goes really well for you.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken x

I went about a year ago to the optician with sharp pains in my eyes she told me these were visual migraines I now wonder if this is part of mt FM

I have a similar story to yours. I have had Migraines for many years but they had been getting worse for about a year including pain in my left eye, and I went to the opticians as they had affected my eyesight. The optician told me that Fibro affects the eye muscle and hence your eyesight! I had two new pairs of spectacles as a result. So it could well be Fibro related.

Take care

Hi Mrs Bear I have the same diagnosis which took me 11+years to obtain, the pain management programme is worth getting onto! push for it, you must be prepared to put the effort in and open your mind otherwise you wont gain anything!

If it will help my pain I will try anything.

Hi, may I ask what led you to believe you may have had AS? I believe I have that, and am waiting for an appt with the rheumatologist to discuss it. What tests did they do to discount it from your list of "maybes"? I'm sorry to hear you've got fibro. Have you had your vit D levels checked? I believe there is a connection between fibro and low vit D levels.

Hi, there was a family link that was ruled out when all my full blood count came back. still awaiting gene test results tho so I may have a rouge gene who knows sorry I can't tell you more.

Hi again Mrs Bear. Was it Ehlers Danlos you were diagnosed with? I've just had that diagnosis from my rheumy. Fibro and EDS hypermobility type. She's also running tests to see if i have the HLA-B27 factor gene to see if my likelihood of AS is higher - and I've been sent to ENT, sleep clinic, podiatrist and pain management. Still waiting on those appts to come through though. Have you been sent to a rheumatologist re the hypermobility, or is it not causing you any problems as such?
