Yes, mine has been investigated and is caused by nerve damage. I would advise you to go to A&E if the pain is severe. I know it's the last place you want to go however don't ignore this. Wishing all the best . Lou x

Thanks Lou, I phoned 111, took ages with questions, told me to go to this cottage hospital to see a doctor within 2 hours, 50 miles round trip, when we got there told all the doctos had gone, the nurse referred me to either phone a number she gave me to speak to a doctor or go to A&E by then I felt so deflated, I've just come home, will see doctor tom trouble is fibro mimics so many illnesses, bit frightening though and once they know you have fibro that's always the answer its fibro ............xxxxxx

Low calcium and magnesium levels can cause cramping, so can arterial obstructions and probably more. Certainly good you'll be seeing the doctor about this.

I hope you get some answers and relief to this awful condition.

I have been to A&E twice with swollen and painful calf. I was given blood thinning injections until I had a scan a couple of days later which showed no sign of one. If you really are worried then please consider going to A&E. If you see your GP tomorrow he may well send you anyway as mine did.

Let us know how you get on.

Hi lefraorchard

I am so sorry to read that you are suffering in this way, and I genuinely hope that you can find some resolution and relief to this issue.

I think with something as potentially serious as this that if you get too worried by it then go to your local A&E? If you genuinely feel that it may be life threatening then there is no reason why you shouldn't go?

I want to wish you all the best of luck with this.

Please take care

Ken x

I hope you have received appropriate treatment by now. If not, may I suggest looking at the NICE guidance for DVTs? If a DVT is suspected, you should receive anticoagulant immediately and be seen for a vein scan within one day. In the event you do have a clot, please follow the advice to wear compression stocks (or stocking if in your thigh as well) for two years - this will massively reduce the risk of long term complications.

Best of luck x

I have had painful calf muscles on and off for three years, my Doctor always measured round both to make sure they were same size as can be blood clot. Both are the same size, so next step was blood tests, this showed B12 and vitamin D deficiency , common for Fibromites!!! My calfs are still painful at times and they are still fairly big in size cos the muscles are very tight and hard. I do notice that as I am coming to my next B12 injection (every 12 weeks) they do get slightly worse and start cramping again. Hope this helps and that you get some real help instead of the usual it's just part of Fibromyagia

Thank you so much, why haven't I had these tests I could ask? I will try these new tablets if no improvement go back, I've always managed to get on with it, but lately finding, good info thanks....

I have occasionally had problems with my right calf, specifically after driving some distance, I come to move my right leg off the accelerator and the calf/lower leg completely locks up and I need to move my entire leg at the hip. Eventually after some massage it eases off, but it is worrying that I might not be in full control of driving my car. As my passenger / wife doesn't drive, it's a worry.

It is difficult as you never know when this will happen, have you been to your doctor to make sure it is fibro, my doctor puts most of my pain down to fibro I've never had the same experience as you, hope you can get it sorted xxx
