Excessive head sweating

Now the sweating is causing acne on my head and back. The dermatologist wants me to take doxycycline but I'm allergic to it. I will try Botox if it's not to expensive. Some say don't use shampoo with sodium laurel. Only shampoo with sodium laureth. It hasn't helped me though. Will watch for news. Love and prayers to fellow sufferers

There is a medical condition called Hyperhydrosis whereby the patient sweats profusely due to an inability to control their body temperature. I have pasted you an extract from NHS Choices relating to this below which you may wish to discuss with your GP or Medical Specialist:

Hyperhidrosis can either: only affect certain parts of the body, most commonly the armpits, hands, feet or face; this is known as focal hyperhidrosis affect the entire body, known as generalised hyperhidrosis. Most cases of generalised hyperhidrosis have an underlying cause, such as: it can be a side effect of taking medication it can be related to another condition, such as an overactive thyroid gland.

Hi, I have over the last year suffered from extreme face sweating, just doing something like writing a card etc, it isn't very pleasant. I put it down to my medication, just started on Gabapentine came off amitryptiline, not so bad at the moment, might just be coincidence for me, hope you find an answer.

I also suffer head sweat's etc but because I'm of a certain age I put it down to that! I also have frontal hair loss attending alopecia clinic & I have been told I have frontal fibrosing alopecia as well as lichen planus of the forehead! the scalp itching is seen as symptom of above conditions but what you say about scalp acne sounds more descriptive of what I experience! although, that said I did have scalp biopsy (not sore at all) they told me, all ok nothing sinister, which makes me think they were checking for scalp cancer! I just had appointment at alopecia clinic no changes!!! back in 9 months for another progress report. Sorry for the "Jackanory" lol. I hope you get answer's soon, keep us all updated!

Hi there, I take pro-banthine for excess sweating. (It also helps IBS & gastritis!) the only side effect I get is a dry mouth which is preferable to my make up sliding off my face! Sometimes the pharmacy has trouble getting it but if your GP is willing it might be worth a try?

I have had head sweating as long as i can remember but only with exertion, so I am no help in that arena. I wonder, however, if you might be interested in trying Dr. Bronner's Purre-Casilte Peppermint soap., It contains neither sodium laurel or -laureth. It does contain some tea trea which fedup mentioned. Here is the site which has the ingredients, etc.

HI I HAVE AWFUL SWEATING HEAD EPISODES COME ON IF MY MUSCLES ARE EXHAUSTED I DRINK ICED WATER AND ALOVERA GEL TO COOL DOWN ON BACK OF NECK AND MAY BE TRY PROPOLIS GEL FOR ACNE.HOPE THAT HELPSXX

I would be sat down and the next thing is my face would be streaming with sweat , I can only put it down to medication , I feel as if once you have been given loads of pills and medicines , you seem to be forgotten , I hope you get over this episode and things get better .

hi I find I have terrible episodes of face and neck sweating,i put it down to the change first of all but that is not the cause. I think maybe it is the medication im taking or is it another symptom of fibro ? well anyway you are not on your own take care kim xx
