Hi All Ive just joined the group after being diagnosed with Fibromyalgia didnt have a clue what it was to start until they gave me a booklet.

Mine started after I gave birth to my one and only child I broke my hip giving birth which wasnt picked up on scans for 3 months!! So was walking around with a broken hip this was almost 2 1/2 years ago and since then I have been in and out of hospital and doctors saw countless number of consultants rheumatologist specialist physio had acupuncture hydrotherapy steroid injections for Trochanteric bursitis caused by the fracture now they have basically exhausted all avenues and diagnosed me with fibromyalgia. Been in pain for the 2 1/2 years everyday its a battle! In agony as I type taken some tramadol which are life savers! Just fed up of being in paon 24/7 and because ive been in pain for so long people forget about it and think im well as I dont look ill but I sure do feel it!!!

hello and welcome mrsz :) a broken hip! the pain must have been awful.

do you have a consultant? if not, ask your gp to refer you, and for physio too.

if you go on our parent site fibroaction.org you will find lots more info on fibro.

regards,

hamble.

Hello Hamble99b yes I have been under many consultants in the last 2.5 years and had 2 courses of physio lasting 6 months I then went on to have acupuncture done by the consultant and then steroid injections which have done nothing but cause more pain I will never have steroid injections again.... the doctors seem to of given up on me really now

Hi mrsz

I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? Welcome to the forum, and it is wonderful to make your acquaintance. I genuinely hope that you find the forum useful, informative and loads of fun!

I am so sorry to read of how you have suffered and struggled with your Fibro, and the awfulness of breaking your hip during childbirth must have been horrendous? Not too mention then walking around in this condition?

I am genuinely delighted to read however that your Tramadol works well for you! I have never used this medication, as I have different pain killers and I also use a neural-inhibitor called Nortriptyline. It may be worthwhile discussing neural-inhibitors with your GP or Consultant? As they can help with the pain.

It may also help you to discuss Physiotherapy with your GP? I do gentle exercises for about 20 minutes a day to help keep myself a little extra mobile and this also helps with my pain. The exercises are simple knee rolling and ankle rolling and even leg lifting! So they are gentle on my Fibro.

I want to wish you all the best of luck and I genuinely look forward to bumping into you around the forum.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Mrs Z welcome to our site. I am sorry to read of your plight and to have been in such un recognised pain for so longis so difficult to deal with.

Long term chronic pain which we all have to learn to live with to accomodate it into our lives. We must try to keep our lives going to keep "the ball in court" a tenis player would say. Learning to juggle yet another string of medicines which we swollow in the belief that our pain will be restricted.

I am so glad you found our site we all have fibro plus all sorts of other things. I think and I dont want to offend anyone but we are a bit batty think you have to be. Laughter is a tremendous medicine and we try and - have a liberal amount daily -- so keep smiling! Do join in our chats and a useful tool is

fibroaction.org our mother site great for reference and then there is also healthunlocked.com . the guys that run this one started the whole thing up

We are all still learning about Fibro and how it effedcts us so take heart we are here for you infact most of the day and night so dont feel alone with this.

Keep smiling

Poor you - on top of coping with your first baby and all the confusion that brings! Tramadol works for me too, but I recommend the slow release kind. The ordinary ones used to run out and leave me chewing the carpet waiting until I could take the next dose! With the SR version I take them in the morning and at night and they keep me fairly level. Doesn't mop up all the pain, but gets it to a manageable level. HTH.

Hi yes it's wonderful to look well ,but inside is another story ,people just don't get fibro if they haven't got it themselves ,you will find ways to cope ,just remember to be kind to yourself ,try not to get to stressed ,only do what really needs to be done ,take joy from the little things ,put the spoon theory in the search box at top of this page in the green bar it might help for your loved ones and friends to read it's been a great help to me , this site also has helped me just chatting to people who understand ,no judgement ,when you have been fit and healthy and it literally disappeared over night it's so hard and when you meet new people they won't know you and how frustrating life has become , also try and find a GP that understands that is a key to maintaining continuity of care and maybe when your ready a pain clinic take care Chris x

Hello MrsZ,

I suggest you see a neurologist and see if they have an opinion on Complex Regional Pain Syndrome for you - this can be caused by an injury and can often be reduced or put into complete remission.

Kind regards

Gary

So Sorry Sweetheart!!! I can't imagine what kind of pain you had walking around with a broken hip. Bless your heart. Sorry to say it only gets worse. When it does be ready to go to a pain clinic, as they can help make the pain at least somewhat bearable. Hope you are feeling better honey, hang in there!!! xxx Mitzi

Hello mrsZ, I have just read your post, what horrendous way to be, and what the dickens have those doctors been doing, not noticing a fractured hip and now this has spoilt your eary days as a new mum and put you into so much painful distress, not good enough. 2 1/2 years and now they say fibro, I would be on the warpath, pain not withstanding and got those medical solictiors on the case and be taking them through the compensation path, for all the suffering they have caused, and making sure that every point is made, I hope you are doing/done this?

Well this is for the things that can help you cope with what you are left with, a baby who is now getting up to full speed on their feet, and the nights that you find so painful and the tired days you have to get through.

mrsZ please accept my deepest sympathy and accept my hope for things to improve for your family, and may your courage see you through, ttfn
