Sleep, sleep sleep!

Can anyone help me please? I was diagnosed with fibro three years ago but had the symptoms for many years before that.

I can manage most of the symptoms with careful pacing but a good night's sleep still eludes me. I have tried most herbal remedies (and a few non herbal) to no effect and am really at my wits end.

Any suggestions would be very welcome.

Thanks everyone.

I can only send you sympathy. I was awake all last night again I could tell you all the star constellations that were out, what time the birds started to sing and everything on my MP3 player. I have to be honest and admit I have always been a poor light sleeper but since I have had this sleep eludes me most of the time and if I snatch a few hours I think I have won the lotto. Probably like you I cannot understand why I go to bed so very tired and still can;t sleep. I have tried sitting up but that just makes me worse the next day. I hope others can give some helpx

Thank you - I too have always slept very lightly but now it is so much worse - what with restless legs, sore skin and the rest of it!

I wish I had to the answer, not only for you, but for many of us. Sleep is an elusive and much valued thing, except when on the odd occasion I have managed "a better" nights' sleep, I can then wake up and still feel like I haven't slept at all.

I wish someone could come up with a magic cure for us all !!

Hi Angelseven

I sincerely hope that you are feeling well today? I genuinely wish that I had an answer for you, but sadly I have been an insomniac for many years surviving on a couple of hours sleep a night.

I can genuinely understand anyone not wanting to take sleeping pills, but if it really gets too much for you it may be worth discussing this matter with your GP and see if they think a sleeping aid would be beneficial.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Same for me. Sleep is essential. Amitriptaline made a huge difference in helping me sleep. I take 100 mgs a night. I also have Lyrica (pregabalin) and it also makes me dozy, so if I take both at night I sleep like a stone. Only downside (and reason I don't always take both if I can help it) is that I'm still a little groggy in the morning.

I too suffer with insomnia and had to ask my doctor for a prescription for something to help me get to sleep. Hope you get the help you need sweetheart!!! xxx Mitzi

10 mgs of cyclobenzaprine a muscle relaxer, should knock you out for a good 8 to ten hours. And really helps with the muscle pain too. I don't think anyone could stay awake on this even if you tried. Perhaps mention this med to your doctor. I'm in the u.s.a.
