Does anyone have experience of hyponatraemia (low sodium?)

Hi All

I have fibro, crps and chronic pain plus epilepsy. The meds I take for epilepsy have caused me to have b12 deficiency and now low sodium. Reading about low sodium online is very scary as it waters down your blood (which is happening to me) and if it drops too low can cause coma and death! Gp is monitoring every 2 weeks at mo to ensure it stays stable.

I just wondered if anyone else has had this and if you could put my mind at ease a little?

Gentle hugs

Yes! I am overweight and as I know it will help my activity levels and hence my fibro if I lose weight I am on a diet. I have never looked at my sodium levels before but now find that when I complete a diet sheet I find that the amount of sodium I am taking in is extremely low - I also have low B12 levels and am taking a supplement, also I find that within my normal diet I take in too little potassium.

Do talk with the medics about whether it is worth taking supplements and if so which ones, especially of B12 although sodium levels do need looking at too. See either the GP or specialist!

Hi jaynief

I am so sorry to read that you are suffering in this way and that you are feeling insecure as a result of your diagnosis. I do not endure anything like this but I wanted to wish you all the best of luck with finding the answers that you need and deserve.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Thanks both,

I have to have b12 injections every 3 months already.

Fingers crossed my sodium remains stable as I can't find a treatment for this apart from hospital on drip (I hate hospitals lol).

Gentle hugs

I ended up in A&E with very low sodium and had to have a saline drip. The saline drip made me feel wonderful and so I think that perhaps my levels are always a bit too low. I thought too much salt was a problem for everyone - apparently not!
