tooth extraction

hi all had a tooth taken out on Tuesday and was in agony to the point of tears when the injection wore off. Two days later and my face is still swollen and neck sore. Anyone else find their body reacting differently to dental work since they have had fibro.

What bad luck hope it is a little calmer today. I have not experienced an extraction fr about 8 years ago. Hope it fades fast for you :. xgins

Did they give you antibiotics? If not go back just to check it's not an infection. Hope it settles soon.

Yes, I have had two wisdom teeth taken out in the last couple of years and I definately felt much more pain and it took longer to get over than when I have had to have dental work before. I think Panda's advice is good and if the swelling continues and the pain levels don't dip have it checked out. Hope it starts to ease soonx

Hi lor6126

I am so sorry to read that you are in so much pain, and I genuinely hope that you start to feel better soon.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ooooo, That's a bit scary. I am due to have my wisdom tooth out soon and from the replies you've had I will definitely be asking my dentisit before he goes ahead. I did ask him if any of my medication would have an affect but he reckoned no. I'm so sorry you're in this pain, it's bad enough with the FM. I hope it eases soon and wish me luck! x

I had a molar out just over a month ago, but I waited for the sedation clinic as a nervous patient. What they never told me was that the contraceptive pill raises the estrogen levels in the body (which it is supposed to do) and this can dissolve the clot in the socket. You need the clot to stay put for a few days to seal the wound and stop infection, otherwise you have open wound and possibility of infection. This happened to me, the clot didn't form = dry socket. Very painful. Plus infection, so antibiotics. I wish they had told me, I could have come off the pill for a while and not had painful dry socket or antibiotics that really made my fibro flare badly. Annoying.

Be very careful with certain meds too, especially ones that thin blood/ stop clotting like warfarin/aspirin types.

I don't think the fibro made any of this worse, but the stress, pain & antibiotics definitely made the fibro worse.

Take care everyone xxxxxx

I had an appt to have tooth out, after 3 injections I could still feel the pain and it had to be abandoned . The dentist has left me a message to contact him , saying thinksit might be related to fibro
