I am thinking of trying to claim PIP

I am thinking of trying to claim PIP, when i had my appointment at ATOS, i was put in the support group. I am currently getting DLA low rate care only.I have checked when i will need to change to PIP which is about a year away. Do i go ahead and put in a claim for mobility and care, or do i leave it for now? My mobility is not good and i am struggling to do everyday things showering, dressing, cooking, walking, getting in and out of chair etc etc etc.

Hi Linda :)

You are not alone with this and it is something that I need to do myself.

Deep down we probably both know it is in our best interests to do it but for me the it is the thoughts of going through the hoop jumping and form filling which is putting me off.

My line of thinking has been to possibly write to DWP about a change in circumstances and going down that route, I don’t know what will happen when I finally get the nerve to do it but I’ll let you know :)

In the meantime here’s some links you may find useful about PiP

Emma our FibroAction Admin put together this post about PiP which contains useful links

healthunlocked.com/fibroact...

Our Mother site has a benefits section too fibroaction.org/Pages/Benef...

And gov.uk PiP info and a link to check to see how PiP will affect you

gov.uk/pip

gov.uk/pip-checker

Take care Linda and please let me know what you decide to do and how you get on. Sendng you Fibro busting fluffies :)

Hi Linda

Sorry to hear that your condition seems to have got worse. I don;t know whether you realise but PIP only has two rates of care which appear to be the equivalent of the middle and higher rate of DLA care. The Benefits and Works site has alot of good information on PIP and tells you where points can be scored. My DLA is up for renewal next year and even though I have deteriorated I have looked where you score for PIP and I have a horrible feeling I will miss out. Are you getting any DLA mobility at all at the moment or just the care?x

Hi lindamorgan

I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? I have pasted the link for the changeover invitations from DLA to PIP by Post Code / Date of invitation to make a claim, it is called PDF, 107KB, 5 pages Timetable for PIP replacing DLA It is registered with the British Library, Ref: ISBN 978-1-78153-675-9 So I genuinely hope that you find this document useful:

gov.uk/government/uploads/s...

Anyone who is wanting and / or waiting to claim PIP from DLA should really read through this 5 page document.

I want to wish you all the best with your claim for PIP, and please keep us all up to date with how you get on?

All my hopes and dreams for you

I spoke with Welfare Rights this morning and they advised me to ask DWP to look again at my DLA as my condition has changed. He said not to go down the route of putting in a PIP claim as yet as they are that far behind it could be a while before it comes up. It is a fiasco apparently. So as nervous as i am, i am going to go down the route of asking them to look at my claim again, he said to provide the evidence that i supplied with my ESA assessment. So i will see what happens

I say go for it, they can only say no. X

I asked them to look at it again, Welfare rights came and filled in form, got letter back saying they are going to look at my claim again, its about 11 weeks to look at etc so keeping my fingers crossed.
