pregabalin info please

Morning,

I have recently been prescribed pregabalin and am reluctant to say the least to start taking it. I'm currently on Tramadol which took me some time to get used to and incorporate into my day. I am worried at how wiped out I will be with pregabalin as there never seems a time in day when I can just give in to it if the side effects are that strong. Can anyone shed some light please.

Thanks, K x

  • Hi kmc-cudsleepforaweek :)

You're not alone in this world of medications and welcome to site :)

I also take pregabalin and yes it can make me sleepy but the tramadol gives me tramasnoozes, I take moderate release tramadol twice a day plus standard release tramadol as part of my top up measure too.

It can take a while to find the correct combination of medications to help combat all the symptoms we endure so I'm afraid 'patience' is essential. I would recommend taking the Pregabalin as it is quite an effective pain medication and brilliant for reducing mscle spasms too. If you have many concerns about taking it I advise a chat to your GP or local Pharmacist who will be happy to discuss your concerns.

I am giving you a link to patients.co.uk medicines section for Pregabalin which, hopefully, will give you all the information you need about it.

Remember I'm not a medical professional just a fellow fibromite sharing some info :) Please let me know how you get on and do ask me any questions about this I'll do my best to try and help you and also someone will always be along shortly too :)

Here's a link to a Post from the Past discussing Pregabalin :)

  • Hi kmc-cudsleepforaweek

I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? I think that zeb73 has given you some wonderful advice and links relating to this drug.

My wife has Pregablin as one of her medications for her MS, and she gets on with it really well. I want to wish you all the best of luck with it.

All my hopes and dreams for you

  • Hello Kmc-cudsleepforaweek,

    You've had great advice from both our volunteers who always try their very best to help. I would only add our website link to the 'All about Fibro' series of factsheets which gives recommended evidence based treatments where Pregabalin is listed;

    fibroaction.org/Pages/Other...

I also take it myself with Tramadol and find it helps with my pain experience.

    Best Wishes

    Emma :)
