So sorry Irene to hear your bad news. I have been made redundant quite a few times in my working life and it is a hard blow to take even when you are fit. I was made redundant when I was very ill some years back and it felt as though some one had knocked all the stuffing out of me and for some time I felt very depressed. I was made to give up a job I adored after being ill for a year so I know where you are coming from. If we can be of help and give you support in any way feel free to post or if you jsut want to have a rant. I don't know how old you are but if you wish to get another job it is worth making an appointment with the Disability Officer at the local job centre as there are some organisations who actively consider people with a disability. Big hugsx.

Big gentle hugs, Irene. So sorry to hear how you lost your job, I was forced out of my job due to my health, but now I feel so much better without the stress of uncaring bosses.

Take care, Julie xxx

Hello Irene, So sorry that you have been made redundant.I have also been made redundant several times. The last time was just after starting the tests that led to the fibro diagnosis. It came totaly out of the blue we were told on the Mon and finished on the Thur.

They simply closed it down leaving both my son and myself out of work.I was devistated I had worked with most of the staff for 13yrs.I was totaly numb and kept thinking that It was all a mistake.

My fibro got much worse after that possibly due to the shock.

Now 3yrs later It looks much different My son and several other members of staff found jobs at another lab. So with him passing on messages and following their doing on FB I still keep in touch.

For me it means that I didnt have to struggle to carry on working or make the awful desicion to leave. I would still go back tomorrow if I could,I still miss it but it has worked out for the best.

and I hope that things work out for you

lots of hugs sue xxxxx

Hi Irene

I am so sorry to read what has happened to you and it must be making you feel awful. I do hope that they are going to honour a proper redundancy payout for you? I know it won't make up for losing your position but it will help out until you can get sorted.

I was wondering what you were going to do? Will you be putting in a claim for benefits? I have pasted you the 'how to claim' links for Job-seekers allowance, Employment support allowance and Personal independence payment. If I were you I would be prepared to go for what you can to help yourself out, after all, you have paid into the system.

gov.uk/jobseekers-allowance...

gov.uk/employment-support-a...

gov.uk/pip/how-to-claim

I want to wish you all the best of luck and genuinely hope that things will turn out well for you. I do not know your circumstances but if you will not be getting much income you can apply for council tax rebate and rent rebate if you do not own your own property?

All my hopes and dreams for you

employers don't have any sense of responsibility, i worked for a housing association for 21yrs, when i got really unwell, and could no longer do my job, they medically retired me, as i'd only worked part time, and they hadn't paid any NI contributions, i was entitled to nothing from them, and the house i was living in for 21yrs, which was provided by them, i was told i had to leave. They didn't offer me any other alternative, and were quite determined to put me out on the street with my son, and make me homeles, i almost ended up in a womens refuge. However, i went to my local MP who took up my case, and i ended up being allowed to stay where i was, and they made me a tennant, why couldn't they have done that in the first place, instead of putting me through tremendous stress on top of my physical illness? Where is the compassion?

Hi Irene,

So sorry to hear of your Redundancy, especially after being employed for such a length of time! No it isn"t fair, it is cruel in my opinion to make hard-working people Redundant, who wish to continue to work!

Sorry it has made your illness worse but as we are all aware any kind of stress, makes fibro worse, hence a flare-up of conditions!

My humble opinion their loss! I am sure once you have got used to being @ home and settled into a routine, you won"t look back and realise it can be to your advantage!

It is not all doom and gloom being @ home, I hav"nt got enough time of a day now, even though I hav"nt been able to work for many years! Due to ill health!

I sincerely hope you start to feel better soon. We can"t unfortunately turn the clock back, so most of us Fibromites are left with no other choice!

If you feel well enough, have you though about doing some Voluntary Work to occupy you? I hope you can look back on this and feel that they have done you a favour! There is always plenty of support on this wonderful Site for you!!

My husband was advised to finish work to care for me aged just 47 years old and although Finances can be extremely difficult @ times, he says they would have to Hit him over the head to drag him back into work now!! Money is"nt everything!

Just think no more early starts or pushing yourself into work when unwell, please try and stay positive, as your past Employers seem to have no empathy what so ever as to your loyalty & hard work, probably even @ times you were not well enough to have been @ work!

You never know Irene, sometimes when one door closes, another one opens for you. If you do wish to carry on working I hope you find something asap with an empathetic Employer this time!!

Every blessing to you.

Sending positive healing energies to you!

(((gentle hugs))) XX

Hi Irene, so sorry to hear you've been made redundant due to your illness. The same thing happened to me years ago, completely out of the blue and I was told to leave immediately, the shock was immense. I hope life improves soon and please be kind and gentle to yourself you deserve it after being treated so shoddily.
