In the early 60's we used to buy Spanish Gold which looked like old fashioned rolling tobacco.

can anyone tell me what it was msde of and what flavour was it?

I am pretty sure that it was mainly coconut,with a brown favouring I cant quite place the flavour though. sue

just Googled it and guess what? you can still buy it,

They don`t have my favorites, :( Barley sugar sticks they cost threepence and lasted me all day. They do have peanut sweets though salty sweet with copped nuts in the middle. :P

scuse me I go look for barley sugar sticks.

found the recipie for them. That will do. :P :P :P

Hi hamble you won't believe this but we have a new old fashioned sweetie shop that has just opened up and I had some of the sweet tobacco and a packet of black jacks and milk sweets. I couldn't tell you exactly what the tobacco flavour was but definitely coconut :o)

milk bottles and false teeth.sugar mice.white mice.chocolate tools.licorice pipes.jars and jars of weight out sweets.smiths and golden wonder crisps in allsorts of flavours-pickled onion and Bovril.

there was an old fashioned sweet shop in my town but it only opened fro a short while.

My favourite was the penny chew, I think you can but it now, it costs 5p and is a 1/4 of the size :)

I'm pretty sure it was coconut. Havent seen it for years though, but there are a few online 'old fashioned' sweetshops that may find it for you :) i hope so xx

I remember spangles loved the old English ones.ninja-pacers I believe were opal mints originally.remember 1975 's prices-I worked in a confectioners/newsagents and maltesers and mars bars were 4 1/2 new pence.weight out sweets 10 p a quarter.candy shrimps and sweet and chocolate bananas.
