Hi Lizzyear

I am so sorry to read that you are experiencing sleep problems at this time, and I genuinely hope that you can find some resolution and relief to this issue. I have pasted you a couple of links from NHS Choices related to coping and treating sleep problems, so I really hope that you find them useful:

nhs.uk/Conditions/Insomnia/...

nhs.uk/Livewell/sleep/Pages...

Me giving advice on sleep issues is a quite unbelievable as I have been an insomniac for most of my adult life! As I am self employed and able to choose my own deadlines and working hours, I tend to just sleep whenever I cannot keep my eyes open any longer.

I really understand how debilitating and soul destroying it can be however, and you have my utmost sympathies with your problem. Since I have been like this for as long as I can remember I think I am use to it in some way?

If this continues for a time, I would definitely discuss the situation with your GP and see what they can do to assist you on the matter?

All my hopes and dreams for you

Hi Lizzyear,

Hope you manage to get some sleep soon, I totally understand what you are saying, its exhausting when you are tired but the body(in my case) won't be still or quite of pain for long enough to sleep. I have been awake most of the night having overdone it with family all weekend, it was worth it though I enjoyed having them around. I usually drop with exhaustion in the end, at some silly time, usually when out or in the middle of the afternoon. Daughter took me shopping last week, just for an hour, I could not keep my eyes open half way round the shop and fell asleep as soon as we got back in the car. Not good! Sending you gentle hugs and healing light.xxxxxx

I'm in exactly the same boat. I go to bed at 8, take 225mg pregabalin, 120mg duloxatine and tramadol...and i lie awake til at leat 6am. Then sleep til 9. If i manage to stay awake all day the same will still happen the following night. Ive tried everything in the book. I just cant switch off. All my g.p says is that i should go exercise in the fresh air and tire myself out!! Joke!! I had amyltriptaline (bad spelling ) for 6 months but i was ina wierd sleep zone, sort of awake/sleep and kept sleep walking. I kept filling a glass with water and lieing it in bed. The first time i did it my husband thought he had wet himself lol...he wouldnt get out of bed because his boxers were wet. Haha x

Thank you miss-boo for your reply. Love the bit about do more exercise!! Oh I would if I could. I can't walk very far at all and use a mobility scooter to get around. We really do have to keep a sense of humour. Sometimes you want to tell the professionals............'have you actually heard anything I have been saying!!!' :-)

Hope you are not awake too much tonight :-) x

I know...im dreadful these days. I shake and collapse, scarey. When i went to see my rhumatolagist last year he told me off for gaining 6pounds, told me to buy a book for £4.99 off Amazon called how to get fit in ten weeks. Then went on to tell me that people like me cant go on gaining weight and not exercising, as the nhs could not afford to carry us. Cheeky bog-rat...i never went back again lol. They need to live in our bodies for one week and see what we have to put ip with. Xx

Morning Tired one,

I had an idea it may help a bit who knows.

I moved my duloxetine to the morning as I found they made me stay awake.

So step one try that take it in the morning.

Step two change your routine you say you go to bed at 8,00 why - try staying till 9,oo at least then to get ready for bed take your time go slowly and gently relax yourself.

Settle into bed and turn off the light.

Now those glorious bed time stories that you tell yourself you Know the kind we dont talk about. STop worrying about going to sleep

See you tomorrow

:D xxgins

Hi gins,

Thank you for your reply. I don't actually take duloxetine. I purposely take the Venlafaxine in the morning otherwise I really am awake all night.

Thank you for your suggestions, good idea about the magnesium too.

Hope you are not in too much pain. Take care. X

Morning lizzyear, I had that trouble for years and I mean years 46 yrs to be exact after my son was born bein pregnant with him made my fibro and spondylosis take a real turn for the worse, I would only get roughly two hours sleep and that was on and off, ....about six months ago, I decided to juggle my meds about and try different ways of taking them, between 5.30 & 6 pm I take my omeprazol for my Barratts Osophegus and just one tramadol, then between 8.00 & 8.30 I take my last gabapentin 300mg, (which is the same family as pregbalin, ) with that I take a black garlic tablet and a magnesium+B tablet both which I got from Healthspan on line, I was told magnesium would help me, then at 10.30 to 11 pm I take another tramadol only one each time so that it spreads it out but you can take another in a shorter period of time I'm suppose to take two at a time but that last dose I split, the way I have done it seems to help, there are nights when I have really bad sleeping, but mostly I will get at least 3hrs before wake up again, on the odd occasion I have gone five hours, who knows you may go more, what pain killers or meds are you on, ...look forward to you post, gentle hugs....Dee xx

Hi Cookie 72,

Thank you for your reply.

I take 75g tablet of venlafaxine, 3 x 300g Gaberpentin 2 x 500g Paracetamol, 10g tablet Ceritizine and Tramadol as required.

Then miday I take 3 x 300g tablets of Gaberpentin.

At around 7.30pm I take 3 x 300g Gaberpentin, 4 x 10g tablets of Nortriptoleyne, paracetamol and Tramadol as required.

There doesn't seem much of the day left to juggle them:-))

Going in for a gastroscopy and colonoscopy tomorrow, so no peace for me at the mo, as still having to visit the bathroom!

By the way, love the picture of your Scottie dog :-)). I have a cockerpoo and she is absolutely nutty, but adorable!

Hope you are not in too much pain. Take care. X
