Has anyone used fucibet for skin conditions? Can anyone tell me why it says discard 3 months after first use, even when expiry date is over a year away? My doc didnt tell me this, only that i can use it whenever i get a reaction to things, including insect bites. X

Hi Sarah,

I don't have skin break outs thankfully, but I think I may be able to help with the other part of your question.

the expiry date is that beyond which you shouldn't use the product if unopened. If you open it to use, it then is open to contamination hence why they say 3 months after first use. You I will find it on many creams, and some medicines (liquid ones) for that very reason.

Hope this may help you in some way. If you are needing more, I would recommend you contact your doctor and ask for a repeat prescription. :-)

Thanks foggy. I am thinking maybe I'll go back to using antihistamine cream for the bites, and my E45 for the other skin problems I get (contact dermatitis mainly, from my watch strap amongst other things). That makes sense now you mention it though.

Don't you just hate the fibro fog? X

Hi Sarah1969

I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you can possibly be today? I have pasted you the NHS Choices website link below, it tells you all about the cream. I hope that you find it useful:

All my hopes and dreams for you

Yes, I've used it many times...I think it's fantastic. I don't know why they say to discard it and I don't really think it matters....I have a tube that I've been using for a few years and it still works as well as it did when I first had it!! XXX

Something to do with it being open to bacteria once opened I've since learned. I should be getting some antihistamine cream tomorrow for the midge bites, and I'm using hydrocortisone for the skin rashes. X

Hi, I think because it contains steroids and their potency decreases. I now have Fexofenadine tablets daily to help with multiple chemical sensitivities. You should change your watch strap to a plastic coated one, do you have probs with bra straps, jewellry etc. Its all part of the lovely fibro symptoms. My Dermotologist has prescribed it before and said I can use after the date but not for too long, I know its a waste but I have the same with Epipens for Anaphylaxia, unopened pens that i have to take back to the chemist, I just hate waste but needs must and its gotta be balanced between effectiveness and not working when u need it. Your gp should issue a prescription for a new tube without any problem. Try discussing a daily antihistamine with your gp if you have dermatitis as it may dull down the symptoms. Here's wishing you an itch free time of it. Lynn x

Thanx hun. My watch strap is plastic, but I have the same problem with my fabric one, and can't wear my gold plated one at all now. I wear sports bras as they're more comfy. My doctor gave me loratadine tablets and eurax cream on Monday, so here's hoping lol. The most frustrating thing is, I react to a lot of cleaning products except Milton's fluid, and I can't wear rubber gloves,so housework is a nightmare. Thankfully I can still use disinfectant. As long as it's pine lol. X

You could try using a nurses watch, a pin on one, they are quite funky these days. Heres hoping the loratadine tablets and cream work. I have Psoriatic Arthritis and in the end the consultant gave me Diprobase for my legs and Dermovate NN for palms of hands and soles of feet. I know how you are with household products, I've tried every glove on the market. Try and get into the habit of applying the cream to your hands before housework to give some barrier to cleaning products. Oh what joys we have!!!
