Hi there huskybike

I think you need to get a second opinion or if you are really worried get yourself down to A&E . Can I ask if your neck crunches frequently ? If the answer is yes, then was it any more severe than normal ? Depending on those answers I would certainly want to get reassurance that there are any nerves effected

Foggy x

Yes my neck crunched about two weeks ago, but I did not have any neck pain so I carried on . Like you do. Then both my arms started hurting . I think I'll go to hospital today . Thanks for all your help x ill let you know how I get on

Hi

I get this a lot, I had a couple of operations a few years back to relieve pressure on my spinal cord. My neck always crunches and sometimes (at least every other day) I get the Electrocution and the shock can go anywhere, down my spine, in my arms or wherever and can take days to get over the initial shock.

What do the Docs say 'You have Cervical Spondylosis so this will happen'

But you do need to to get this looked at properly as my real problem did not show up until I had an MRI so try and get one of these done as an X-Ray and Ultrasound only showed bone degradation and not the spinal cord compression.

We are all different so do not fret unduly, but do insist on getting the proper care you need.

Take care and kindest regards

Terry

Then you know how important it is to get the correct diagnosis, insist on an MRI as that is really the only way to get a proper look at what is happening inside your spine.

I have been through every spine and nerve test devised and until I had the MRI's done they did not know about the spinal cord compression at the top, the bottom of the spine they just said I had to live with it as the bone was to fragile to do any work on.

So you do need to take care

Kindest regards

Ouch indeed. Prolapsed disc though? Where? Lumbar or neck vertebrae?

Poor you. Gentle hugs :)

Had that some 15 years ago. They did lumbar injection and it was just as treatment was changing so I still had 3 weeks bed rest when up and about would have been better. I compromised and got up anyway and made a nuisance of myself in the ward. I'd have to be really ill to be quiet. It was then that I found my first real indication of resisting analgesics :(

Prolapsed disc is awful. Can you move GENTLY without making it shriek? If so do it but stop the instant it hurts. This is unlike training for a snickers - I mean marathon. NO WEIGHT TRAINING. A good physio may be as good as a rheumy (roomie?)

I was scheduled for surgery but consultant changed his mind because my second scan showed satisfactory improvement which I justified his faith in me. After a couple of flares which I knew how to deal with I haven't had much trouble for years.. :P

THERE IS HOPE :) :)

Hi Huskybike

I am so sorry to read that you are still suffering in this way, but I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today?

The only thing that comes to mind is to keep going back to discuss the situation with your GP. Your GP may have some ideas of their own, and be able to give you something to help with this horrid pain until you get in to see your Rheumatologist. Or maybe he will write again to your local hospital conveying the urgency or your situation?

I sincerely hope that you can find some resolution and relief to your issue

Hi ken hope your feeling ok today, got my appointment through for weds, what's the best course of action with Rheumy . I have written down all my symptoms and when they happened. The thing is it changes every day and have some new symptoms, my arm pains are so bad now I struggle with intricate things. I'm sure the top of my arms have got thinner due to muscle spasms. Quite scary !!!!

Don't think you can prepare much more. You're doing ok. Only 2 days to go. Gentle hugs.

Gentle massage works wonders too. And sitting posture, a fairly high straight backed chair where your feet JUST rest on the floor. A lot of damage can be done by slouching without realising it :)

And don't accept any of Ken's cake. I'm sure he really wants you to say no thanks :P :P
