Hi

I watched it when it was aired last year and went out and got a juicer and did manage 15 days straight juicing not eating anything just the juices i had people telling me how well i looked i lost a stone in weight and slept for the first week so well but then my body kicked in with its insomnia but i was actually going around showing people how good it was. Haven't put the weight back on. But haven't juiced in a while but mean to do it again soon. if you just start with a three day juice and see how you go don't automatically think i'm going to do 30 or 60 days take each day as it comes. There is also a british guy called Jason Vale you can get his books or apps on your phone or tablet. he has a plan called albs in 7 days his actual juices do work out a little cheaper than joes. I was dreading the green drink but i actually really liked it I had no side effects from it at all. My friend was all geared up to try it her and her husband and she had set the day to start she tasted one juice and quit. If you don't like the flavour of one juice mix it up I would start the day with something like grapefruit, orange and carrot, then have a green one at lunch time another in the evening and then another before bed the only thing i didn't like is having to wash the juicer everytime i had made a juice and the amount of stuff i threw away. I don't mean fruit i mean the pul that is extracted from the fruit.never drank tea or coffee i had a glass of hot water with lemon to start the day. I like sharp drinks so would add extra lime or lemon in the green drinks and it said not to use granny smith apples but i would use what was on offer because you need an awful lot of apples. I liked the sharpness of granny smiths so for me they were good. with celery or uncooked beetroot add a little at a time as both have quite strong flavours the beetroot can be quite earthy the celery also has a distinctive taste. I went on Joes website and wrote down in a book a number of recipes and as i tried them i would put stars against them that would let me know whether i had enjoyed it or not. Jason site is also very helpful. He had severe asthma, eczema, he smoked heavily and everything went he tried the not juicing to see how he was and soon his symptoms started to reappear. Joe doers advise you see a dr he said that a number of times i didn't see my dr but i did mention it to him at my next appointment. The key is to do it slowly i believe a to of what he said makes sense we eat so many additives now that we don't know what we are putting into our bodies if they have taken the fat out of something then its loaded with sugar. I was amazed how well Joe looked after 60 days he did and Phil that was so amazing it was a real eye opener. He is doing a second film which i think is being released in America shortly and hopefully will be shown over here soon too. There is a group on Facebook who do it and one guy had Joe phone him to say how well everyone was doing. If you want to eat something make it a light meal in the evening and try and eat foods that have no additives make your own soup with vegetables which can be very warming in the winter months. The other gadget i saw is the nutribullet instead of the juicer you put all of your raw stuff into the nutribullet add a bit of water and blast it this way you have all the goodness of the food and very little waste and it is so much easier to clean if you don't want bits in your juice use a sieve to get them out although there is very little that will come out. Another tip is to freeze bags of what you would put in a juice in a sandwich bag as you always then have some prepared so its just a matter of putting it in the juicer. I never thought i would like avocado but blended with the juice its gorgeous and makes a drink so creamy the same with bananas you can also freeze the bananas skin them then put in a bag and freeze them they are like eating an ice cream when you eat them frozen. Good luck

Hi Huskybike

I never watched this show but I just wanted to ask if you had spoken to your GP before commencing your diet? Whenever they have shows like this on TV they usually say that you should always consult your doctor before starting a diet. I just wanted to make sure that you are safe undertaking this?

I sincerely hope that you are successful. I would be extremely interested in finding out how you got on.

Hi Ken

On Joe Cross's video he is monitored throughout and the guy who has the same condition he had was also checked out by the dr at different levels but the results for them both were phenomenal it was a real inspiration to watch it can be seen on netflix Its called. Fat, Sick and nearly dead.

IMO cutting out sugar (high carb foods) and grain will give you more benefit than juicing.

The key is the additives that we have in all of the foods if you eat low fat stuff they have loaded it with sugar and e numbers and everything else going back to basics is a really good thing and gives great results. Juicing is very very healthy for you even if you do a 3 day plan then have a few days off then do another 3 day or even just juice during the day and have a light meal in the evening with food that has no additives.

I did the juice during the day light meal at night. I would either do a salad with a small portion of chicken or a homemade soup.

I loved it and have been wanting to get back into it. Waiting for the garden to start producing, so i don't have to spend so much money.

Good luck×××

No I haven't spoken to my gp as still waiting to see a rhumatologist I've been waiting 18 weeks to be seen , which is fine as I've had these symptoms since 1998 and was told to live with it so I'm a bit fed up and thought it can't hurt ! I'm eating properly as we'll so don't worry , but thanks for careing about me x

Well done husky!! Unfortunately as a T2 diabetic any change in the chemical make up of fruit and/or veg raises the sugar content and my blood sugar readings go berserk!! I would love to live on veg smoothies as I'm sure I would lose weight!!! :(

There were diabetics on the programme and they were cured from doing the juicing the diabetes went away as they lost the weight their health improved you probably have more sugar content in what you eat than what is in the juices check with your gP and maybe have a juice a day if you have carrot and orange that is gorgeous there are also a lot of juices that are anti inflammatories when the fruits are combined.

I'm T2 too. Um, shouldn't we all be on a healthy balance diet anyway. If we were we wouldn't need to resort to questionable faddy diets. I like one of Michael Mosely's investigations where the only real conclusion was they don't want it to work anyway as the cash cow would dry up. . . My diabetic nurse positively warned me about lots of fruit. Many of us with underlying medical conditions may be sensitive or even intolerant to some foods, and as Fibro and IBS seem to go together, loads of fruit would make the gut go into overload. I'll echo Ken's comment. If in doubt SEE GP. Purrr's comment is good. Try that on its own first. Taking big steps/making big changes if often unsustainable. :)

As i said i did 15 days straight and was told how well i looked. It has been seen to cure lots of illnesses including diabetes. check out joes website or jason vales. The ratio we should eat is 80% fresh fruit and veg and 20% of other things like proteins meat etc. It is only since additives have been added to our foods so we don't know what we are eating along with a different lifestyle than our ancestors. It didn't affect my bowels although it says on the program by day three you may have headaches and may have to go to thee toilet more in fact another lady did it on the programme she did7 days and sat next to her husband whilst he ate a huge steak but she continued she suffered from very bad migraines and even though at the start she wondered why she was doing it after the 7 days she felt great had had no migraines and was going to do a 7 day programme every month. I think if you look at the Paleo diet which is eating food with no additives you will really notice the difference you can start the day with a large breakfast of eggs mushrooms some say bacon some say not basically its like living off the land like the cavemen did. Any food with out additives such as sugar sweeteners, high fat content, all those E numbers.

I watched a programme recently called the men that made us fat and some guy in america worked for a big insurance company and he looked at the ages and weight of people dying and said we have a problem everyone is overweight he never looked at what the people had died of and the weights weren't that high compared with today that was the start of dieting. These companies don't want you to succeed as they are making money off of you my mum has succeeded at every diet plan there is but the minute she has stopped going the weight has been put back on and more. I used to go to weight watchers and the minute i started a diet i was constantly thinking about food. Not on a diet i don't think of food at all and i am now lighter than i was then. Eating healthily is the key and checking for additives that we are putting into our bodies.

Just a quick thought. I have done an odd 3 day fruit and vegetable detox and I feel so much better at the end. Nothing else has come close to making me feel this way. So by all means check with your Dr first but I would say its worth a go if medical checks are fine. Xx

I can honestly say, juicing changed my life, for the good. I was only finding relief with foam rolling and massage at the time. My muscle were incredibly tight and painful. I would describe the massage appointments as the best hour of pain in my life.

My chiropractor told me about the documentary, i watched it on YouTube then bought a juicer i could afford.

First week, expect headaches and still little energy, that because your body is beginning to detox. Just rest and juice. But soon you will feel amazing, like you are a kid again. I remember when i was juicing 4 times a day, i would wake up before my alarm full of energy and ready to go.

My pains never fully went away which bummed me out and i stopped fasting during the day and i only got worse.

I've been trying to get back to that.

Changed my diet to a more whole foods, raw as much as possible.

I still juice about everyother day.

It doesn't work the same for everybody.

I hope it helps you as much as me.

Good luck××

There is a second film call fat sick and nearly dead 2 both were on Netflix joe cross who did the show was able to get rid of all his medications and on the second one there was a woman with fibro who was fully cured. You can get some great recipes to try on his website also a book on kindle just seen 99 p at the moment called 7lbs in 7 days by Jason vale which is all about juicing he cleared all of his asthma and excema through juicing. I did 15 days straight juicing as I said it didn't cure my fibro or OA but people were commenting on how well I looked. I think we have far too much processed foods which we don't know what's in them so even doing juicing in short bursts and trying to do the paleo type diet has to be better for us. Worth seeing if it helps when juicing though you really can't just have fruit as it is too much sugar you have to ad things like Kale and cucumber, carrots spinach raw beetroot celery but adjust the flavours to your own taste as the beetroot has an earthy taste and celery initially can be quite a strong flavour so I would add extra lemon or lime and a good flavoured apple like Granny Smiths. If you try it good luck I hope it helps in some way. You can't juice Mango banana and avocado but if you juiceother stuff then add these in a blender they each add a creamy texture and avocado is a good fat need d in the body especially for joints.
