I have an atos doctor coming to visit me on Saturday morning re.my dla appeal I suffer with fibro-anyone got any tips and dos and donts ? thanks scott

Leave pride out of the equation.

We all want to please people so when they ask us to do something we will try to do it even if it hurts us. If they say bend down and touch your toes and you know its going to hurt you then politely decline and tell them I'm sorry I can't do that because it will cause me serious pain.

Concentrate on what you cannot do and tell them why. Admit to depression none of us wants to but we all suffer from it even if its only grief at the loss of our old life Tell them how you have had to change your lifestyle and why. I can't sit for long for eg and I told them that I can now not go to the cinema or have my hair cut.

Make sure they know what its like to be in pain all the time and what its like to sleep and not be rested. Tell them what its like when you can't remember things because of the 'fog'.

Without getting angry be firm with them. Make sure they understand how much your suffer and that it affects you everyday and every moment.

when i had my medical i didn't take any tablets, that way i did hurt a lot doing all the stuff. when its done always ask for a copy, as they can make big mistakes. i live in a town house, but according to my report i lived in a ground floor flat.
