Although I'm no youngster (almost 60) I've been feeling SO old recently! If I catch sight of myself in a mirror, I see a really haggard looking woman looking back at me.
I like bright clothes, try to lead a full & positive life & all in all try to look at the bright side of life, but oh boy am I failing recently! But on a good note, I realise that I'm in the middle of a bad flare up, so have to keep reminding myself that I'll feel a bit better soon.
Actually today hasn't been too bad, I recently discovered T'ai Chi & have a class on Mondays - & it really helps!!! I would encourage any of you to give it a go if you can. It's very slow & gentle, you hardly feel like you're doing any exercise. It has really helped my balance & co-ordination. Also it doesn't tire me out (too much) After a class I always feel much more positive which can't be bad, can it?

Hey Cobweb, I can relate to that, I look in the mirror and just see a tired person! even when I feel pretty good, I just always look shattered! But don't forget, beauty is in the eye of the beholder That's great that you are doing T'ai Chi if it helps you. Its interesting that you say it helps with balance, my balance is not very good at times and I sometimes nearly fall over, I lost my balance and fell into a wall at work the other day in front of some students! I'm sure they must have thought I was drunk lol! Keep up the classes x
I know the feeling ,im 52 but when i get a flare my kids take apic to log it and i look about 100 very scary look swollen all round chin and mouth looks like ive had a stroke few hours later im ok , but the lead like legs and tight jaw still frighten all the family and tears roll too! weird this illness isnt it . Hope your ok this evening !
Hi Cobweb, glad the Tai chi is helping you . I can definately relate to you feeling old, I am 51 and my mother inlaw is 80 and she has so much more energy , get up and go etc than me, I know it's the condition , but what a comparison . Only joined the site yesterday and already finding so much that I can relate too , It's good to know others feel the same .
Yep, I'm another one whose 80 year old mother in law is much fitter than me! I did read on an American website once that people with FM have the physical capacity of an 80 year old .... but she's MUCH fitter than me!!
