Dr Kevin Whites book and conference

Did anyone attend the conference with Dr Kevin White about fibromyalgia.

Did anyone on this website buy the book or disk he was selling at the conference.

If so, did you take the book to your doctors and did they read the book and if so, did they use the book to help improve your symptoms.

I have a good patient-doctor relationship with my gp but I couldn't expect him to read a book I'd taken in.

have you done this josie? what did the gp think of it?

if anyone who was at the conference would like to give a report on the info, I'd be interested in reading it.

regards,

sadra.

I have ordered the book but not received it yet, why would your doctor not read the book if he wants to help improve your symptoms. I spoke to my doctor who has no knowledge of this condition and explained to her how fed up i am with not having any joy with this condition, no sleep, medicine does not work for me, doctor has no interest and said to her why did they accept me on there books as a patient if they dont want to work with me to help my symptoms and this book has scienctic reseach by a doctor.

I told her this condition is on the NHS Choices website but in the end she told me to bring in the book and she will work with me to help improve my symptoms.

There were about 30 plus people at the conference, did anyone buy the book and have they had any joy with there doctor.

Hi

Your GP has thousands of patients to deal with and I doubt mine would have the time to read a book devoted to just a handful of her patients. My GP is very good and open minded and if I have any suggestions she always goes along with them but there is no way I would expect her to read a fibro book.

A specialist would be interested I am sure, but GP's are so over-worked it wouldn't be fair to expect them to give up their free time for me. I would probably read the book and give my GP the condensed version if I felt it would help.

Hi,

Another helpful resource is to download & print the FibroAction factsheets to take in to your GP.

The factsheets regarding treatments cover Lifestyle Adaptations, Complementary Therapies

Neurotransmitter Medications, Analgesics, Sleep Medications & much more.

Please feel free to browse the 'All about Fibro' & 'Expert Patient' series too

I have fibro arthrits chostochondritis and ibs... Do you suggest I take a book on each and give them to my GP to read ... And why this particular book there are loads of books on fibro.... Sorry if this sounds a little abrupt but I can't imagine any NHS GP having time to read a certain book of our choosing .... I am lucky my GP is the fibro expert in my practice ... But it's not his fault I react badly to many meds and have trouble with the gentle exercise due to my arthritis.. So he can't treat me as he does other fibro patients....

Hope you enjoy the book
