We were all having a cuppa in the Volunteer's Hut tonight, and we got to talking about this awful 'spare room' tax.
We wondered if it works in reverse - I mean to say, if two of you share a room shouldn't you get a rebate? And maybe if you were very wicked and had 'threesomes', shouldn't you get a performance related bonus?
I shall personally write to the Prime Minister and suggest that he looks into it.
I hope no one is offended by the mention of such naughty things - it's all VG's fault - she's been putting ginseng in the teapot again!

I like your thinking, but you've missed an important point.
On average allowing eight hours sleep out of 24, that means you can get 3 shifts of two people in a double bed = 6 people using one bedroom! How much does the government owe me for that?
Excuse me I resent your automatic thought that we are going to have a threesome.... If its a money back scheme I will quite happily open up my bedroom for an orgy every night .... Gets cash register set up in the porch and goes to measure her bedroom to see how many people can comfortably orgy in the space..... Do I get furnishings replaced too if someone swings from my bedroom light or breaks my wardrobe leaping from It.... And do I qualify for matress allowance........?

Being serious for a minute. The bedroom tax doesn't affect me at the moment because I work full time and also my son lives with me. However I have been looking on Homeswapper for an exchange as I don't feel I can carry on working much longer and my son wants to move in with his girlfriend in about a years time. The problem I have found is that any 1 or 2 bedroom properties in places I would be prepared to move to the rent is actually more than I pay for a 3 bedroom house. Therefore say I moved into a 1 bed propery by myself and the housing benefit covered the whole amount of the rent it would actually cost them more than paying for me to live where I am. Stupid or what ?

Lol , my hubby asked ,how does the spare bedroom tax work then as we do have our own bedroom together and they tax me on my eldest's room as during term time she is away at college, but we can't sleep together as the slightest touch in the night has huge consequences on me in the morning as though my body has been beaten up in the night by a sledgehammer,so he uses her room.
Surely they need to rethink how they run this country,as it's a bit like taxing the poor to make it better for the rich who can afford extras..

Hi everyone after years of being told me passing out and losing my balance was in my head i found out today accidently whilst having something else done my heart was beating really slowly and stopping thats why im blacking out i have to have a pace maker into 2 chambers of the heart, when thats done im taking my gp to court this is not the first thing thats happened that could have killed me im so angry why do they always think its in your head

If my friend and I joined forces on this bedroom tax thing. We would end up all square - he has a bedsit, so no bedroom, and should be given money for that. I have 2 bedrooms and have to pay bedroom tax.
