Things have changed a lot with the introduction of PIP, however, if you are unable to work due to disability or ill health you still need to apply. With this you need to respond to each question as if everyday was a 'bad' day. This is simply because any day can be a bad day, you can't 'book' a symptom free day. You should be eligible for some Housing Benefit, but it used to be for people who can only work 16hrs a week, so check this out. If you are dependent on some support for certain things to do with your personal wellbeing, cleaning cooking or shopping, they may be eligible for carers allowance. This may mean that you disclose information that may seem very personal, e.g. Incontinence, but whatever you may feel if it's a symptom of your condition there is no shame in it. You can get good advice from Citizens Advice, depending on your location. There are some voluntary organisations that can give advice I benefits too but for now if you can, at home, in a library wherever, get on the Internet and see what you can find out because the powers that be are reluctant to tell you much about benefits. Hope it works out ok for you.
