I have just been diagnosed with fibromialgia...after reading some of the blogs don't feel so alone anymore. I feel so exhausted and irritable and the constant pain is wearing me down. I have been doing a lot of reading about this condition and it all makes sense. Just wonder will i ever feel normal again??

Hello pixiemax, great to see you her. I am so pleased you have found comfort in some of the posts in our lovely forum! That's good to hear! :)

At the beginning it's very hard coming to terms with how we feel and we tend to reflect back all the time on all the things we used to be able to do and also how we did them compared to nowadays. We feel robbed of our lives before, hopes and dreams dashed. We feel quite hopeless in some cases. It's always good to hear from other Fibro sufferers as we realise we're not alone, that there are so many people going through the same as we are. It is so exhausting isn't it. As time progresses and through talking to others in the same boat, perhaps joining a local support group, and reading up on the condition, we tend to come out the other side and reach acceptance of our condition. It's from this point on that we move forward and adapt to the changes that have happened in our lives. Obviously some people cope better than others, some can't accept how they are and of course it's harder then. That's the beauty of a forum like this because there are so many experiences and opinions to read so we can slowly learn more about Fibro and then improve our quality of life and our general wellbeing too hopefully.

Regarding "feeling normal" again, people differ greatly. Some manage a really good quality of life and become quite active again doing the things they enjoy, for others they manage a good lifestyle though at a different pace. If possible it's worth trying to think of the things that you can do as opposed to the things that you can't do. It's like thinking of your cup as half full and not half empty. Hope that makes sense! We are all here for each other and I hope you continue to find help and support here Pixiemax! :) :)

Hi pixiemax,

A warm welcome, glad you have found the site. I was recently diagnosed with fibro too only 2 weeks ago (what a shock to my system).

It was with relief that my gp finally mentioned fibromyalgia and a referral to a Rheumatologist that everything started to slot into place. I am now on meds and starting to feel like my old self again.

Angel hugs xx

Thanks guys..its really comforting to know everyone here is experiencing the same symptoms...I was diagnosed last week after seeing a rheumatologist and am waiting to have some xrays done and have been told they will work out a treatment plan for me. I am a single parent to 2 teenage boys and am having difficulty coping with even the simplest of tasks at the minute the constant pain and exhaustion is overwhelming at times.Just trying to get through it one day at a time...and trying not to sweat the small stuff..but its difficult.

Angel hugs right back at ya!!
