There isn't a specific diet for Fibro, despite what many books will tell you.

Eat healthily with a balanced diet and try for a mostly low GI with plenty of low-fat protein sources. Basically, what is good for anyone and what will maximise your energy levels whilst reducing your risk of nutritional deficiencies as far as you can.

The two exceptions to that are:

1, food intolerances should be ruled out as part of the diagnostic process but rarely are. If you haven't investigated this before, it may be worth doing a proper exclusion diet to see if you are intolerant of anything. Many people who say "diet cured my Fibro" may never had had Fibro, but had Fibro-like symptoms as a result of intolerances.

2, diet can really help IBS. There are common triggers, basically anything harder for our bodies to digest, such as red meat, dairy, caffeine, artificial sweeteners, etc. And then how you eat is very important with IBS, as well as what you eat. FibroAction PAB Member Heather Van Vorous explains this all brilliantly in her books 'The First Year: IBS' and 'Eating for IBS' (often available at local libraries) or see her website helpforibs.com for free advice.

I have found moving onto decaf (Yorkshire tea) and 1 cup of greeg tea (by clipper) each day has helped me alot, I have moved off cows milk and gone onto sweetened soya milk, i would never change back as the health benefits of added calcium n no bloating. No more diet drinks, water is best.I eat peanuts, more fruit and veg, less pastries as they cause flare ups in me.do a food diary and add how you feel and what tablets you are taking at the time, cos some symptoms can be side effects of meds. I have a brilliant book off of Amazon 7 steps, it has helped me through the basics, and when the fog hits, i have to read it again to remind myself what i should be doing. Oh and stretching exercises everyday twice a day, only 5-10 minutes until you can build it up,that's strengthened my inner core and balance. It's a big learning curve, I hope this helps. x

I've got an appointment with a nutrition specialist who specialises with people with Chronic pain/FM/ME etc on Thursday so I will post anything that she suggests and hopefully there might be something useful for us all! x

To be honest.. and i have talked to ALOT of people with fibromyalgia.. everyone is different you need to find what works for you some people find if they cut certain foods out it helps or if they have certain supplements, the same with exercise or heat you just have to find what works.

LindseyMid and Sampride, had touch very important aspects of diet. Making sure a balance and in many cases our bodies need suplements as the absorption of nutrients vary from person to person. Your body is unique to you. Having a good multimineral complex has been very important to me. I do have constant checks on my iron and other minerals as calcium etc. Little and often gentle exercise is very important, this has given me a total new way of managing pain and stifness. Plenty of liquid is essential water, water. Tea, coffee and any minimal alcohol have been very detrimental to my muscle tone.

I do flauvor the water with herbal teas, ginger, cinnamon.
