Hi pepper2975

I am so sorry to hear that you are suffering in pain at the present time. It is so unpleasant when we simply cannot get any relief at all, especially when we are desperate to go to sleep.

I am on 50mg of Nortryptaline daily, Co-Codamol and metocloperamide (anti-nausea) but I have to admit that it doesn't really keep me pain free for most of the time.

I sincerely hope that you can find some relief from your pain, and the answers that you are searching for.

Take care

Hi, I take gabapentin on an as-needed basis (i can't take regularly or it stops working) - prescribed by GP. Also use TENs machine, hot baths and Tiger Balm rubbed on sore muscles. I hope u find some relief soon x

Hi Peper,

It is so difficult isn't it when pain really strikes. I am one of the oxycontin takers for brake through pain though I live on quite a concoction all the time to level it out.

Have you chatted to a Doctor about your pain levels that is the most important thing to do so get a appointment for this week and go see what they suggest.

Most of us work on the principal that by keeping our pain continuously dormant or subdued we are better off that just throwing something at it when the pain peaks.

In the mean time paracetamol every 4 hours is remarkably helpful plus heat pads or hot water bottles and cups of tea must not forget those.

Gentle hugs

HI, I have osteoarthritis and other conditions as well as Fibro.

I take citalopram, amitryptaline, paracetamol, gabapentin ,lansoprazole, zomorph, tramadol and I also have oramorph for breakthrough pain.

You really need to see your G.P. and he will prescribe. sometimes as well you may have to change some meds if they do not help the pain etc.

Hugs, Belinda

Hi, I got referred to a pain specialist, i now take pregablin often called lyrica, along side venlafaxine, paracetamol and occasionally a top up of tramadol or diazepam which are all prescription only drugs. I had tried the anti inflammatory drug naproxen but after a year it stopped working so i now use a anti-inflammatory gel to rub into my legs/arms or wherever, you can buy that in the chemist. Its a case of trial and error, unfortunately i am still always in pain, the drugs just make a difference weather or not I'm screaming in pain and can or can not get out of bed. Good luck!

Hi CandleLight :)

How do you find the gels work for you?

I find that after a couple of hours its worn off :o but very effective when its first applied, good for when I need instant relief. I have 2 types an Ibuprofen and then a diclofenac based one, for different things of course.

Hi Sian, yes I find the same as you with the gel, but any relief helps. I have the ibruprofen one. I also use ice packs on my lower back and muscle knots on legs or arms. Angela x

in reply to CandleLight

Hi Angela :)

I'm glad its not just me :) any relief is good as you say. Ive not tried ice packs on my back I go the other way and use a hot water bottle on mine it seems to work and warming too LOL

I must admit the gels do help I just wish they helped for longer. Are you only to apply yours twice a day? Its the same for both gels for me.

The Ice packs are to stop the sciatica and muscle spasms. They say use ice for locked inflamed muscles to bring inflammation down therefor decreasing pain and heat to relax muscle prior to moving it i.e massage, exercise. As for the gel mines on prescription and label says use when required, box says use no more then 4 times a day x

in reply to CandleLight

Hi, makes sense :)

My muscle spasms originate from the small of my back but I've always use a hot water bottle to ease the pain, I think I'll try the ice pack for the spasms though. Thanks, no-one has ever given me advice for the muscle spasms only ever pain :) xx

Because of other meds I take for blood pressure etc, I am unable to take many painkillers. So far the strongest my GP has given me is Zapain. I do take Tramadol at night in the hope I can get at least some relief from my pain, but most of the time the pain is unbearable. X

Hi Pepper :)

I was wondering if you'd had a chat with your GP about the pain you feel? Your GP would be able to help you with medications and/or pain clinic referral and/or treatments/therapies such as pain management.

I take so many things for the pain such as Tramadol s/r, Pregabalin, Paracetamol and Tramadol 50mgs as top-up with also the option of a 3rd pregabalin when Its really at its worst. I also have an Ibuprofen gel and an anti-inflammatory diclofenac pain gel which are for topical use when I need it like my right knee which feels like its been wrenched 24/7 so it often needs a little extra help and also my lower back.

I think the best person to help you is your GP Pepper and I hope you find some relief soon. Sending you pain busting fluffies xx
