PIP face to face with Atos

Hi Everyone

I finally had my appointment with ATOS for my PIP application on Thursday 17th Oct the health official was quite a nice person who asked lots of questions on how my illness affects my daily living, he also done a few tests where I had to lift my legs squeeze his hands and things like that, had to do a cognitive test asked to spell world backwards and remember things he took from a drawer, I had my support worker with me and took proof of my carers plan as well as proof of home aids that I have had done but all the things that I took he said he didn't need to see as he believed me.. Now all I need to do is wait to see what happens he will send in his report to DWP and I will hear from them when a decision is made...

So I will have to be patient and wait for the brown envelope to arrive will let you all know what the outcome is when I get it, 8 years and 4 applications later, hears hoping for some good news

Gentle hugs to you all

Gill xx

Hello gill , reading your post I was taken back 7yrs when I had to go to an appeal for DLA !!!! It was so exhausting ! I was weak for weeks !!! I was lucky they over turned the decision and I've been on DLA ever since BUT I'm told that I will have to reapply for PIP !!! what a stupid name ! And from what I can gather it certainly does get on your PIP !!!! I'm prying for your brown envelope to arrive quickly and give you PIP FOR LIFE !!!

I'm very pleased that fibro sufferers are getting what they deserve and being helped at last ! But it's still a long road and very exhausting !!! When I got home after my appeal I was so pleased BUT then it struck me that nothing had changed !! I'm still ill !!! But someone believed me and that's worth the world !! Good luck gill and take care xx

Hi,

I hope the PIP, are going to be more understanding about FMA, there is a lot of people out there that really don't care anymore.

I'm waiting to I see my specialist as I will be requesting a manual wheelchair. Walking is starting to become more difficult and dangerous for me.

Let me know how you get on

Hi, sounds as if your meeting was really positive. Do you know how much PIP is a week or month, or does it depend on circumstances? X

Hi

Just ti let you know I applied for PIP in Aprl and had medical in June and i am still waiting a decision. As I was expecting a much quicker process I have been very anxious about the delay. The DWP say that the hold up has been due to strict auditing of the medical report. II do hope that you wint have to wait as kong and suggest you keep calling up to get a progress report on your claim. I will re-post when I get my decision, todate I have been waiting over six months sunce applying!

Hi

Sorry to hear that you are still waiting, that's very disappointing news as I was thinking that maybe now with the PIP it would be a quicker process, Have you been ringing them to ask the progress of your claim?... I do hope that you will get some positive news soon

Gentle hugs to you x

Thank you gilly. Copious calls to dwp over the months as was told at the onstart the turn around time start to finish 70 days. I think i am unlucky as I'm one of the earliest to claim and atos required to audit claims thoroughly due to complaints made against them in the summer. Just think they still have massive backlog and anyine expecting quick turn around may be disappointed. Six months of your life is s long time to be waiting for help manage your needs and I sincerely hope that dwp put in place a speedier process without further delay. Gentle hugs back. Jackie

I have now had two letters from DWP saying they have all the information they need for my PIP claim to be finalised and when I rang them following these letters for an update they said I now need another face to face consultation with DWP as there appears to be inconsistencies. For goodness sake I applied for this benefit in April, almost 7 months ago - does it really take so long to process!!!! Does anyone have any experience of having a face to face with DWP and where it may be held etc? Big thanks and best wishes x

Have sent it back to dwp, I have checkd they have it and I've asked them for a copy do I Vsn finally see what they were doing this all this time, so I'm still waiting . Week 21 and still no answer. This is how sick people get treated x

gillyb59 in reply to Julesq27

Hi Jules

The way people are being treated is appalling I'm at week 18 so looks like I have a few more weeks to wait.. They are saying that the auditing is so that they check that there are no mistakes made so I think it will be hard to appeal decision they make but lets hope they make the right decision and lets hope they do pay all the back dated claim.. I have not heard of anybody getting PIP yet so will have to wait and see how it all works

Good luck hunny I will let you know when I hear from them myself

Hi, I've been waiting since august. I had my medical in November. I keep ringing Atos healthcare for a update on how the report is coming along. Alls they keep saying is that it with the auditors still. Anyone know how long it takes for them to finalise this report? Thanks Dave

Hi Davy

It seems as if no one is getting anywhere with there claim I am still waiting to hear i'm now at week 22 and still its with the auditors hope someone hears some good news soon but I don't think it will be this year as I was told it could be with atos auditors for 3 months as they have such a back log of claims, but will keep my fingers crossed for you good luck

Hi gilly. I made the call again today too Atos. Got the usual "its still being looked at" They tell me it will take btwen 6-8 weeks for the dwp to be in receipt of it. Why didn't they just tell me that in the first instance instead of me making ~ 10 phone calls wasting my money. Plus to top it off, they lost my expenses form. I resent a second one, they lost that. Its going to be the new year now by the time I get my expenses back. Hopeless :(

Hi Davy

I also phoned Atos yesterday as I do every Friday. I got told again that my claim is with the auditors it has been with them for 4 weeks now and its been 7 weeks since I had my assessment, I don't think any ones knows what or when these claims will be dealt with but one thing is for sure we wont be hearing this side of Christmas its now 23 weeks since I first applied. I hope that you get your expenses back soon and also that they make the right decision on your claim fingers crossed, keep me posted on your development and I will you

Good Luck

Hi Peachey

Sorry to here how long you have waited. I have no expectations of hearing before the new year now as i have phoned them and keep being told that my claim is still with the auditors and its been 7 weeks since i had my medical assesment. and even when it goes back to the DWP there is no knowing if they will award me anything. it has made me depressed aswell but for now i am trying to put it out my mind and trying to enjoy Christmas with my children and granchildren, that is all that i can do to stop me from worrying

Good Luck and fingers crossed that you here from them very soon with a good result..

Hi all. Ive been waiting for my PIP results for 10 months. Eventually ive got them back today. Unfortunately I've been unsuccessful  The ATOS examiner did NOT include all of my symptoms. He seems too have missed a hell of alot out of the report. He also says I was in the examination for 45 mins when infact it was 15 mins. He also suggested I claim my travel expenses for a taxi fare. He said " I'll say I seen your receipt for this fare". Can anyone please advise me on which route I should take next please. Anything would be much appreciated. Thanks

in reply to davy147

Make an official complaint- the man has lied to you, any paperwork offered by you to them, has to copied (original returned to you) and signed in. Any interview has a min and max time allowed- all atos or capita interviews held in their own office is recorded on video- ask for a copy.! they don't tell you your being recorded but they do it for legal protection if you or anyone else sparks off.. Don't take no for an answer- only the loudest voices get heard-

Hi I have a really aggressive case of multiple sclerosis along with depression and anxiety mostly due to have m.s. I was diagnosed with m.s just after I found out I was having a baby but had been suffering for the age of 16 with all the symptoms from m.s and being carried home by strangers off passing out but not knowing I had it. I am now 21 and I applied for DLA 2 years ago and I got declined so I went forward with a tribunal. Even at the tribunal I got rejected even though I still suffer every day, I can't walk without help, I still have falls, weakness and pain in my body, no strength, vision problems now and again and dizyness. Not just that but with depression and anxiety I can't leave the house without my mother otherwise I have a panic attack and she has to be with me incase I have a relapse, test I still got tuned down due to the fact I was pregnant at the time I applied and being pregnant keeps the m.s at bay which I think is disgraceful and so said a lot of people even professionals. I have now claimed p.i.p which I claimed for May 2014 and just 3 days ago I had my meeting with the specialist who writes the repot and even she said she can see how bad I am and how hard it is for me and she thinks it's disgusting what DLA did to me. I am now waiting to hear back from DWP for my decision so do hires crossed. When I was at the DLA tribunal I'm going to bring up that the way they tret me and spoke to me was disgusting they were treating me like a criminal and like it was an interrogation, I think they need to sort there priorities out because they are awarding people who have nothing wrong with then and can cope fine and then people like me and yous they are throwing to the ground and I've had enough of it because we are the ones that need it. My mother had to make me apply for DLA in the first place because I am scared of people and confrontation and them I get tret like that, I was a nervous wreck for months after that tribunal, same principle with p.i.p my mother had to beg me to apply for this, now if I was applying for it for faulse illness then why did I have to be pushed to apply tell me that. Fingers crossed I win this time.
