Surrogacy starting point

Hi, after too many years of failed fertility treatment we're looking into surrogacy in the UK, Ukraine & Georgia. Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated as the internet gives so many mixed messages. Thanks T,

hey trace!it is quite sad to hear about not being able to produce your own child. But you looking into the surrogacy is the positivity that many of us are lacking vehemently.I will share a story of my friend who was also in the same crisis a few years back. She went for the surrogacy technique and there she succeeded in having her own babies and now she is a mother of two really beautiful little girls. She is happy and contented in her life.I myself am at the 40 years of age and I have been planning to have babies but no luck yet so looking into surrogacy on my friend's recommendation as well. She got it done from abroad as well found it to be really cheap and the services there were even better than her expectations so look into these three places more as I have been searching the same and look for the cheapest among them with most facilities offered. Some of them offer unlimited tries so look for them out there.Goodluck in this road of happiness I hope you get what you want soon.Much love and support.

Hi Jenni,

Many thanks for your reply, I thought this thread had stopped as no one replied. It's great to read such a positive story and gives hope to couples like us researching surrogacy. Do you know which country your friend opted for and the name of the clinic she used? Trying to find current recommendations on the internet is challenging, it still feels like a subject people find hard to discuss. Super good luck with your journey and if we can support each other in our research that would be great. I'll post again once I hear back from the clinics I've contacted. Thanks again for your post! Tracey :)

Hi! I've just dropped in to share some thoughts. Concerning Ukraine as the destination, they do have an attracive legislation as for surrogacy. I mean according to it, intended parents are legal parents of the baby born by surrogate. Their names are written in the baby’s birth certificate. And a surrogate cannot change her mind and just keep a baby. Besides you're beyond age limits. Know this due to some acquaintances ;) Wish you best of luck x

I'm sorry to hear about your failed attempts at having a baby... it's too hard on a mother! However, with your surrogacy decision, I'm sure you'll find success soon enough. I can't suggest you specifically which is the best option...but here are a few comparisons that might just help! UK is clinically the best but then the financial constraints of a surrogacy are high unless you're covered by some aid or medical insurance. Ukraine has been emerging as a desired destination for reproductive tourism...guess some breakthrough (though not as advanced as UK) is responsible for such fame. Don't know much about Georgia but I guess you need to know the legal policies for surrogacy and compare between Ukraine and Georgia, if finances are your main concern. Remember, the contract should clearly state that any failures owing to the mishandling on the surrogate's part are covered by the clinic and they take full responsibility for a fresh cycle if changes are to be made. Besides the hidden cost or scope for hidden cost, check the package that offers multiple attempts and not just a single one. Hope you find what's best for you and be a mother soon! GooD LucK

Hi!

We were treated for infertility for a long time until my doctor told me that I had no chance of carrying a child on my own.

Then we began to look for a surrogate mother. I can not say anything about the Georgian clinics since I was not there. But we tried several clinics in the UK and then went to Ukraine. Surrogacy is cheaper there. It was very scary to go there in 2014 due to their military conflict. But the clinic in which we were located in Kiev. There are no military actions and everything is calm there. Here is the website of the clinic:

ivf-international.com/servi...

We had several attempts, and in the end, everything turned out. Our surrogate mother Oksana is a very positive girl! I am grateful to fate that it happened!

Now we have our daughter!

I know this is a late post, but thought I can contribute. We've always counted on surrogacy as our last option is case there's no luck with any other treatment. So we did a huge research on the point while undergoing IVF shot at Ukrainian clinic. From what we've got to know, it's absolutely surrogacy friendly country. Meaning the IP are considered to be the only legal parents of the baby born. The birth certificate is issued with their names. (even though donor egg was used). The surrogate has no right to keep the baby after deliver (even though she changes her mind - you WILL GET your baby in every case). Ukrainian law protects all the sides of the process, so there could be hardly a thing to worry about. If you're from the UK, I'd definitely recommend you looking through oursurrogacyblog.wordpress.com which is absolutely awesome for the details of surrogacy treatment for the UK citizens in particular. In brief, surrogacy process in Ukraine goes on like this:

Initial consultation. It usually contains the following activities: A set of tests depending on the program (fasting is mandatory). Consultation with a fertility specialist who will be in charge of your program (in case of stimulation you will need to have the transvaginal ultrasound check done). Consultation with a manager who will guide you through the program step by step. Signing of contracts. Before any initial consultation you will receive the Guidelines for the Initial Consultation – failure to follow these recommendations may affect the initial consultation in a negative way. Search & confirmation of a surrogate mother, matching process. Waiting time depends on the type of contact. Stimulation & synchronisation stage (about 2 weeks). The cycle of egg donor or the biological mother is synchronised with the cycle of a surrogate mother. According to your contract you have to follow all doctors instruction. In case of self-treatment or violation of the treatment protocol, the clinic may cancel the cycle and terminate the contract. Fertilization day, embryo transfer – the 2nd visit. In case the biological mother undergoes hormonal stimulation and is being prepared for egg retrieval, the second visit may take up to 10 days. If we are talking about surrogacy using own eggs it is not recommended to leave the same day. Flying the following day is fine. The rules for sperm donation are similar as for the initial consultation – a man needs to abstain from ejaculation from 3 to 5 days before. After fertilisation the embryo development is monitored by embryology unit. The embryo transfer takes place on the 5th day. You will receive the protocol of embryo cultivation and transfer within 3 working days after the embryo transfer. HCG test, pregnancy confirmation. The first ultrasound scan is carried out in 2 weeks after the positive HCG test by the doctor in charge of the program. The report will be send the same or the next day after the check.

Pregnancy monitoring. Delivery. Obtaining of the birth certificate for the baby (up to 1 week).

This is some general outline of the process, all cases are different though.

All the very best of luck on your way!

I should say that the surrogacy program at BTC covers all the bases and works in the clients’ favor. Unlike other European clinics, the surrogacy program cost there is significantly lower. Depending on diagnosis, doctor can recommend surrogacy program with donor or own eggs. Patients pay for the program on a phased basis: igning the contract. Before the pickup / puncture procedure. When surrogate mother reaches 12th week of pregnancy. As act of delivery starts. During the final stage of the program, when biological parents receive all necessary documents and leave the clinic with the newborn. Signing the contract, clients receive a complete package of services. Clients live in the clinic’s homes, hotels which are regularly visited by pediatrician who specializes in the newborn children. Doctor monitors condition of the newborn’s health, advises parents on all issues they are interested in. In the case of premature birth, the clinic covers all the expenses concerning necessary medications, procedures. Also child’s stay in the hospital if it is needed. During the whole period of the program manager and interpreter accompany couple. And organize all processes, coordinate patients, prepare all documents and help clients to go through the program. All services listed above are included in the price of the program you choose. I myself got so much inspired after looking through this biotexcom.com/galleries/our... .
