All depends on where you live check out ivfineurope.com - has he tried having a reversal?? and please make sure you keep a fertility chart see example on my website infertilityhelptoday.com GOOD LUCK!!!

Definitely try reversal first, but unfortunately if it doesn't work I'm afraid no you would probably not be eligible for NHS fertility treatment. My close friend was in this situation and was denied nhs - though she now has baby boy after one private round of icsi. She lives in Gloucester though so check with your gp as different areas may have different criteria - good luck!

Hi helpppp. There are a number of ways in which you could possibly go forward in trying to have a baby with your partner. Unfortunately though, this may prove difficult if you need NHS funding from your local NHS provider (check with GP) - because as your husband has had a vasectomy in the past, it is assumed that you have a child(ren) within your relationship and therefore are not eligible for NHS funding. However, it is always worth applying in case “rules” are changed and funding is allowed. Have a chat with your own GP who may be able to support such an application.

Privately, your husband could possibly have his vasectomy reversed if it was not done too long ago. Best results are achieved if performed in less than five years of the original vasectomy. Alternatively, it could be possible to aspirate sperm from the testicles, in order to use them for artificial insemination if your tubes are patent and you have normal menstruation. If not, then maybe an IVF procedure could be considered. Clinics that are able to offer these treatments can be found on the HFEA (Human Fertilisation and Embryology Association) website – hfea.gov.uk

We hope that the above information is of some help to you Michelle, and wish you both well with any outcome. Further information about how our charity can help and support. Regards Diane
