Starting our own support group?

Hi, I am new to this site but have spent ages reading lots of blogs etc, and it's great to finally know other people know how I feel! Anyway, since our first failed ICSI attempt in February, my hubby and I have been interested in finding a local support group - but everything is on-line - we would prefer face to face contact. Does anyone know of any such groups in the Northwest areas such as Warrington/Haydock/Newton/Ashton/St Helens? Failing that, we thought about starting our own but couldn't find any helpful info on how or where to advertise. Anyway, good luck to all of you out there - baby dust is on it's way...

Hi and welcome

Have you seen the full INUK site (infertilitynetworkuk.com)? There are real support groups associated with the Charity, I would very much expect there to be a group in that area. I can see from the last magazine that members of the charity get, there are groups in the Wirral, Liverpool and North Manchester. There are probably more around, but my geography is not too good!

Sorry if this seems like a bit of a pitch to encourage membership of INUK!

The other thought I would have is to ask your clinic or your counsellor who may know of a group too.

Hi katiejane74656,

You might also want to have a look at our forums under the 'Find a Friend - Groups, contacts and informal meet ups' section -

I can talk through and provide you with all the information we have on setting up a support group. If you would like to take this further please give me a call on 0800 008 7464 or email me hannahtramaseur@infertilitynetworkuk.com

Best Wishes,

Hannah

Hi Wattolass. The Wirral group is no good for us either. We have enquired about starting our own group but every avenue will cost money - all our spare cash goes into our IVF kitty. I think it's disgusting that so many people are denied treatment. What's the point of advancing in this field if no one can afford it?!
