One ovary & increased Gonal F

Hi everyone, had my 2nd scan today whilst on STIMS and the clinic has said my left ovary is completely unviable due to endometriosis and the follicles in the right are still pretty small, so our Gonal F dose has been increased to 450iu. Just wondered if anyone has had to depend on one ovary and if the increase in dosage helped get the follicles to grow.

Feeling a bit hopeless today, but trying to find something positive 💛🤞🏽

Hi, I can relate to this feeling. We were only expecting to be able to use one ovary (due to issues with being able to access my left ovary due to endometriosis and adhesions). At my first stims scan I didn’t have many follicles and they said the left ovary hadn’t responded and that my egg collection would be pushed back to later in the week as my follicles were small - we came away feeling really deflated. However 2 days later we went back and both ovaries had responded and I was ready to take my trigger for egg collection as originally planned. So I guess, for us it dramatically changed in 2 days. They were able to collect from both ovaries, as once my left ovary got bigger it became accessible.

Hi there, I had two egg collections, and only one ovary responded each time. Apparently it is quite normal that they alternate each cycle (it was different ovaries which were active/inactive).

In the first round they didn't change my dose (I was on Gonal F as well) as it was NHS, but I was able to get 10 eggs in the end.

In the second, private round I also only 1 ovary responded properly (the other one had 2 follicles only and it didn't change). But the clinic altered the medication throughout the cycle and I got 15 eggs in the end, and most of them came out of one ovary.

So it's definitely possible to get a good number even out of one ovary responding especially if the clinic is monitoring you and adjusting the medications! Stay positive and good luck xx

There is still a chance treatment will work as long as you have one functioning ovary .Sounds like your right ovary needs a little boost of hormones and increasing your Gonal F dosage will help aid this

Good luck with your treatment
