Thanks for sharing, very interesting! I've got a pgt-a normal tested embryo from my first round and a non- tested one from my third round, and this gives me hope for the second one!

Same! I have one left on ice not tested. If they make it to day 5 and are of good enough quality to freeze, it has every chance to succeed as the ‘normal’ tested ones. Good luck!

Really interesting articles. My question here is what UK ivf clinics are willing to transfer an abnormal embryo? I know my current clinic won't and said we would find it hard to find a clinic that would.

It is illegal for UK clinics to transfer abnormal embryos. We were tempted to test ours but in the end decided against it. Our consultant also advised against testing as the research for it is not strong enough.

I think uk clinics won’t transfer an abnormal embryo. Interesting articles. Even though we had only one embryo that made it to blastocyst on our second round of ivf, we still had it pg tested because I couldn’t face the grief of another 2ww ending in a bfn. The results were abnormal (a missing chromosome 16). I don’t know whether we’ll do genetic testing for our third round next year, ultimately it will depend whether any of our embryos get to blastocyst in the first place and, if they do, if I feel emotionally strong enough to go through the hope and excitement of a transfer without some reassurance that it is genetically normal. Given the odds of a blastocyst being genetically normal at my age (40) are something like 1 in 5, it all feels like a totally lottery.

I’m the same age as you. We ended up with 2 that made it to day 5 blastocyst. Transferred the best rated embryo and froze the other one. We are almost 8 weeks pregnant but the viability scan was not promising. I’m going back next week but I’ve been told to prepare for the worst. A part of me did wonder if I had the embryos tested I could have saved myself the heartache. But there are no guarantees in IVF. Also, what if they both came back abnormal? We would have nothing to transfer but the articles show that PGT-A testing is not 100%. I would rather take my chances than risk having no embryos at all. Like you say, a total lottery. Good luck!

I'm sorry yours going through this hun but all I will say is I'm in the same boat right now measuring 7.2 with a grade 1 PGTA tested baby. However the heart beat fetal rate is too slow so pgta testing doesn't always help in these cases

Oh lovely, so sorry this is happening to you right now. The initial viability scan showed it was measuring a week behind at 6wk1d but should be 7wk1d. The heart rate was also slow and the sac was irregular. Taking all into account I knew it was not going to progress. Unfortunately today it was confirmed the heart stopped. This doesn’t have to be the case for you. A slow heart rate is only one factor and you are measuring on track. Sending you all the luck in the world.

I’m so sorry that the viability scan news wasn’t promising. that must be heartbreaking - sending hugs. I agree re the testing not being 100% and also there is always a possibility that the testing damages a healthy embryo…..I think that’s why I’m more open minded about just transferring any embryos we have next time rather than getting them tested. We haven’t had more than 2 blastocysts from any one round and this will likely be our last round of ivf, so it’s not as if we can be selective in any case! Oh wow! Thanks for sharing. I have 2 frozen embryos and my consultant wanted me to test them but I had an uneasy feeling about testing only from the point of view of thawing them and re feezing them and then finally thawing again for transfer. I was concerned they might not survive the process.

Well it’s been confirmed that the pregnancy stopped progressing shortly after last weeks scan. I am going to wait for it to pass naturally. We are devastated, this is the second loss this year. Safe to say it’s going to be a rubbish Christmas! We have one left to transfer. If that fails I think we will move onto the donor egg route. I’ve just had my last three embryos tested as I don’t have the mental strength to do three more transfers. 2 came back very abnormal and 1 normal. I’m hoping that it works and we are going to combine it with the biopsy ( test cycle) to work our the best implantation period. My consultant has had very good results with the two combined and for me, I just need to know one way or other now.
