IVF is tough but should get you to where you need to be. I had a baby from my first round in 2019 and am now pregnant again from a FET (frozen) we had left over. It can work. It does work. You will be fine. Get loads of info from your clinic and surround yourself with support. Your age suggests you will have a good chance. Good luck. Jess.

Owe brill my egg count is low so I'm really hoping they will be able to freeze as well just in case the 1st go doesn't work x

Hi Gemmasut,

I am 34 and have low ovarian reserve too.

I think one thing I would say r.e. The amount of eggs you manage to collect and hopefully freeze is to just take each day as it comes. I read a lot of conversations about how many eggs people collected and it got my hopes up a bit too high!

We only collected 3 eggs in our first round and only 1 was mature. In the second round it was a real roller coaster as we went from 3 follicles at baseline, to 8! To 6 to 5 to only collecting 4 eggs. It was really brutal and took a real toll emotionally.

Just take it day by day and remind yourself that you are/have done everything you can.

I would also HIGHLY recommend the book ‘It starts with the Egg’.

This is really good to read as I’ve not heard of many people having success with their first round, which doesn’t fill me with much hope for ours! Congratulations on your second pregnancy, I’m really hoping our IVF works 🤞

Hi, I started IVF this year after 3 years of trying. We have done a fresh cycle and a frozen cycle (currently pregnant from the frozen cycle 😊). When I started I found everything really overwhelming and had no idea what the processes were. This forum has been so helpful as everyone is in the same boat so if you ever need advice or support this is the place to be! Xx

I am struggling with how fast it all seems to be going and finding it very overwhelming, do you mind me asking how old you are, I'm nearly 30 and been advices that me egg count is low for my age

I'm 36, we had to do IVF because of sperm issues. You'll hear a lot on here 'it only takes one' and it's so true. You only need one good egg to fertilise so try not to worry about numbers too much 😊

Yeah I'm trying to ignore the negatives and just concentrate on the positives as I do worry it's hard not when we are going through this as there is so much out of our control I'm trying to keep my body the healthiest it can be, a lady has recommended pomegranate juice and eating pineapple to prepare the lining I've also downloaded an IVF meditation app I think will really help x

Hi Gemmasut,I went through ICSI IVF and currently 19 week pregnant with twins.

I agree with VLGX it can be challenging at times. The thing is you do not know which part of the cycle you will find most challenging until you go through it.

I thought embryo transfer and TWW would be a breeze as I had no issues with stims phase, but boy was I wrong. This forum is very helpful with loads of supportive members, tap into their experience.

One thing I would advise is to do loads of healthy meal preps just before embryo transfer and egg collection, so healthy home cooked meals are readily available.

Wish you all the best. X

Wow I think the tww will have me I am the most impatient person ever but hopefully going to find loads of things to keep me busy, great advice with the meal preps IL be going shopping and freezing to reheat x

We started IVF back in March. I've had 3 egg retrievals now. Finally, one of the eggs matured into a healthy embryo. IVF is obviously different for everyone, but it's so nice to have this forum to chat with others who are going through it. Listen to your doctor, follow the instructions carefully, stay positive and pray! It can feel like a long process. But, there's obviously a good reason why we are doing this right?? Anytime you want to talk I'm here! XX

I feel headaches sometimes, some hot flushes like if is really hot outside....sometimes emotional but I was like this before starting medication. I don’t know if stimm is working hit it should I don’t feel any other side effects. I just take one day at time and act like nothing is happening....

Good luck on your journey. We did IVF 5 years ago with donor sperm. We have a beautiful 4 year old girl now. We did it through the NHS, which we are very fortunate about, but it did take a long time from point of referral. We are now having another go, but things are a lot quicker now. Currently taking my injections for egg retrieval. It can be overwhelming, but just ask questions and this forum for help too. It has helped me a lot with a few things a long thr way. Sorry about your losses in the past. Try and stay positive and remember some self care, look after yourself. Xx

Hi Gem, If you have a low ovarian reserve I think it’s important to get your expectations right. I also have low egg count and I couldn’t understand after my first round why we only had one embryo out of 3 eggs collected, honestly I thought they would all be fine and I’d have some in the freezer 😂. This round 2 eggs collected and we have one embryo, again I was hoping for more but knew that wouldn’t be the case. I’ve come to realise that getting one embryo is an accomplishment and that’s all it takes. Also do everything you enjoy and make those plans if you’re feeling up to it. I wish you the best of luck and will have everything crossed for you 🥳🥰💖

It will fly by and will be here before you know it! Another tip is I recommend drinking lots and lots of water, like 3lt a day. Take each day as they come💖
