Hot water bottle on feet during TWW

Hi ladies. Need some assurance as am going bonkers. I am 3 days past transfer and I have been using hot water bottle on my feet at night in bed to keep it warm as I am always freezing around my feet. Now am worried that I might have ruined my chances of implantation. Anyone used hot water bottle to warm feet up during TWW. .? And got BFP. Should I stop, socks does not help at all. Please share your experiences hot water bottle. Thanks.

I haven’t tried this but I’m also in my TWW and I just want to encourage you not to worry too much or overthink things. I know it’s not good to have a hot water bottle on your tummy but I can’t see how warming your feet up can cause any harm. Maybe try not to have the water too hot. Get out and do things to get your mind off the process a bit. Good luck, I’m sure you’ll get a BFP.

Hi winniep.Thank you so much for your encouraging words. I will try not to worry. I have been on this journey for so long and I pray it works for me. All the best in your TWW.

Yes I did this. My Acupunture lady told me too. She alsoSaid because I was also

Cold that I could

Place it on my lower back with coverings to help

Keep the heat in but not directly on my stomach.

We did get positive. No

Trigger shot on day 5 we started. From my scans it has shown that baby implanted on day of transfer. 23 weeks tomorrow. X

Hi DanABC20Thanks so much for the response. Can you please tell me how you used it, when in your TWW and for how long please. Huge congratulations on your pregnancy and wishing you the very best. Hope I get my BFP. Thank you.

I used it at points when I was relaxed, I’d have my thickSocks on and then hot water bottle

On top of underneath. I did visuals before and during 2ww. I did find this hard as it isn’t something for me, but hey method in the madness. I tried everything I was advised by clinic and Acupunture. I was told more from Acupunture than clinic. The clinic sort of said good luck. And off you go. I can remember my Acupunture lady telling my heart and lungs were blocking things. And to try and let them

Go. Good luck chick x

Hi DanABC20I will try with the visualisation technique. I find it hard as I have tried before. My mind keeps on wondering off. Things we do! I pray I get some positive news. I have been on this journey for so many many years. I deserve some good news. Thanks, all the best on your journey.

I was actually told to keep my feet warm after my transfer - something about keeping internal body heat in your centre rather than sending it to keep your feet warm 🤷‍♀️ Anyway I loved in bed socks and had twins 🤣

Ivfgoteadream, hi. I do try socks in bed but still feel very cold, hence adding hot water bottle. But then got worried that I have been heating it and therefore not good for implantation. Congratulations on your twins. So what do you mean "centre rattan than feet please. . .? Thanks

I can’t remember if it was my clinic who told me or the fertility acupuncturist - that keeping heat in your core and in your uterus area would assist implantation so to avoid getting cold feet as your body would naturally redistribute it’s heat from its core to your extremities.

She said even lying with both hands on your stomach/uterus area was enough heat (so don’t put a hot water bottle or laptop on it)

the acupuncturist told me to lie with both hands on my uterus and image the embryos taking root - I guess sort of like channelling positive energy (?) - so I imagined 2 little seedlings 🌱 growing into oak trees - normally I wouldn’t pay any mind to this sort of thing as think it’s pretty dubious (or a load of old bollocks!) but since I couldn’t actually go for acupuncture as did my transfer in lockdown I tried this visualisation thing instead.....I had twins so could be something or could be a massive fluke 🤣

Hey Leshu, I had my transfer on 1st April and tested after my 2WW on Monday 12th. I religiously put a hot water bottle on my feet, as I always have cold feet and I ate a bit of pineapple every day and I got a positive! Sending you lots of luck xxx

Definitely keep the hot water bottle away from your tummy!! Just on your feet xx

Leshu in reply to Elizabeth1988

Hey Elizabeth1988Thank you so much. This makes me feel better. I will stop stressing about it. I think I kind of want some signs/symptoms. All I have is cramping nothing else. I will try and stay calm. Did you have a symptoms. Congratulations, all the best.

Hey, it’s so easy to stress though, think we all do! I had such minimal symptoms so really thought I’d get a negative and I got a positive! Some women have all the symptoms & others have none or very few so try not to even think about it. Also google is not your friend, you can drive yourself mad! Just relax, have some gentle walks, eat yummy food and be kind to yourself! Lots of luck & thank you hope you get a positive too! When do you test? Xxx

Yes it’s fine to have a hot water bottle on your feet. My feet were freezing all the time in the 2ww and afterwards. I’m 16 weeks pregnant now. Just don’t put the hot water bottle on your tummy

Hi TheodoraTAww, thank you so much for your response. I appreciate it. I will try and smile today. I have so sad because I have been thinking I have ruined my chances by putting hot water under my feet. Congratulations girl.

Same, used a hot water bottle on my feet in 2ww and got a BFP. 13+1 today 😊 If you’re worried, I also used to put it in the bed to heat up sheets a couple hours before getting in. That did the trick at night when my feet are like icicles!

Do you know if you are having a boy or girl? I was told cold feet = a boy. My feet were freezing the first 10 weeks and I’m having a boy 💙

Didn’t keep feet warm. Got BFP in my cycle that worked (2018).

It’s based on Chinese medicine. Don’t think it has much evidence but no harm. I wouldn’t worry if you don’t do it. I genuinely believe if the embryo can implant it will no matter what! Xx

Leshu profile image
Leshu in reply to JenRoy

Hi JenRoy. I did it because my feet is always iced cold. I didn't know what else I can do, wearing very thick socks doesn't help. Sometimes I put 3/4 layers of socks on and still feels freezing cold hence me adding the hot water bottle. If I don't have the iced cold feet I wouldn't think of doing it because it wouldn't cross my mind. I don't know if you have experienced very cold icy feet, it's very uncomfortable, and mine is constantly cold even in summer. Congratulations on your BFP. Thanks for the response.

Always have cold feet! It has no bearing on your core temperature. Our bodies are far too clever to let cold hands or feet affect our body temp. I wouldn’t worry xx

I used a hot water bottle on the bottom of my back during 2ww and transfer as i was aching so much. Im now nearly 7 months pregnant. I wasnt too worried because at accupuncture they place a heat lamp on you to warm up your womb! I kept nice and toasty and the baby for the first trimester was a hot water bottle of its own! X
