I just wondered whether anyone had had IVF success after lots of previous embryo transfers failing. I've just had a 7th transfer fail during a fourth round of IVF. We seem to be OK at making embryos with 2-5 blatoclysts from each of the rounds but so far the pregnancy test after the 2ww is always negative and there are no signs of implantation. I have adenomyosis and have been on lubion, progynova, utrogestan for the transfers but just wondered whether there's anything else people would try/have been encouraged to try. We had one round genetically tested but the genetically good embryo still failed. Am 40 and will probably only do one more round but don't want to continue to just repeat the same failures.
Thanks for any replies. I do find this forum a really helpful support.

Have you thought about an ERA test? It's where they have you do a medicated frozen embryo cycle and after he 5 days on progesterone but instead of transferring an embryo they take a biopsy of your lining and send it off the lab to see if you are receptive for implantation. I'm currently pregnant with our 9th transfer with twins and we have had a chemical and a spontaneous loss previously so also 7 BFNs. However we had started messing about with timings to get those 2 BFPs with no science behind it. A lot of mine have been with donor eggs as we shifted away from my own as we were hardly getting any blastocysts. Might be worth thinking about, its not cheap but we found our answers to BFNs.xx
Cinderella, that’s really interesting. Do you know what day-ish were you ovulating and what day the did they transfer? After you had the ERA, did they transfer sooner or later than previously done, to get your twins?
My ovulation doesn't come I to it as these are done as medicated cycles. So once they work out your implantation window they replicate this with a real transfer. My implantation window was out by a full 24 hrs compared to normal people. Most ladies take 5 days of progesterone before transfer (120 hours) and I need 6 days before I'm receptive (144 hours) which is why I was getting lots of negatives prior to my ERA. This was the protocol used with the twins.xx
Hello, it took us 8 transfers and I am now 20 weeks. We tried different protocols after 3 miscarriages. I'd had the basic miscarriage tests but everything was ok. We were going to do pgt-a testing and the era/emma/alice next but we didn't get enough embryos for the pgt-a and decided to go for it anyway. I had been taking impryl, omega 3 and coq10. Sometimes, I feel like it's just down to luck. You have to get the right embryo in the right environment at the right time and it's out of our control. It's so difficult to keep going and be positive. I was really down through our last cycle but it didn't stop our little baby from taking hold. I found it useful to get a second opinion about what were our options and what we could do next as I felt that at our clinic, it was very much 'its up to you' but I wanted a medical opinion. Some doctors verge towards the NK cells route to test your immune response and some are more for era and then there's pgt-a which is a minefield too. However you decide to approach it, I wish you all the luck in the world.
I don’t have a success story as I am exactly in the same boat as you 😫 but just wanted to say, hang in there, I think as the previous lady has said, as long as we create embryos there is a chance... I will be 40 this summer too, I have decided to go for one final round and if it doesn’t work I will probably stop trying. I feel like I have to move on with my life ... I have been going through this hell for a very long time now x
It took 6 blastocyst transfers for us to get a bfp. I was 29 when it happened and nothing wrong with me at all, so I think there's hope if you can manage to find the strenth. I've read of people that succeeded in the 10th transfer.
I had same outcome in 6 tries, no sign of the egg tried to get up and cozy. In 7th try we added prednisolone so the immune system would hopefully not throw the egg out as a foreign thing. That did work for us + a bit more of progesterone doze. We had fine eggs and lots of them at age 43. So we are now at week 37 just waiting.Hope you get loads of info here for another try, and all the best to you.
I don’t have successful story here yet but I also had 7 failed transfers. What I believe, for these number of failures, it is not lucky or not, it shows we have underlying unidentified problems for sure. Due to your age, i suggest you to do embryos banking first to save 2-3 PGS tested embryos. Then you need detailed investigations, like ERA EMMA Alice NK cells, thyroid profile, blood clotting tests. After 7 failed transfers (mix with MC chemical and negative), I changed clinic to do embryos banking, we are lucky to have 3 PGS tested for the first cycle. There is no point to rush to transfer because we already did so many, if it can work, it should work. After many tests, I have been identified high TSH and NK cells disorder. I hope my story can help you to find the solutions.
Hi, I also have severe adenomyosis it was diagnosed after having 3 miscarriages from natural pregnancy and 4 failed Ivf transfer I was then treated with Decapeptyl 3.75mg injection for 3 months before I had the 5th and 6th transfer I got pregnant on the 6th transfer and was able to give birth to my daughter in 2018 at age 39.5 all my Embryos were 3 days old and my daughter is from a frozen 3 days old Embrayo
After 3 miscarriages i new something was not recht because the miscarriages happened before 8 weeks with sporting few days after bfp we checked everything there was medically to check and it all came back normal the doctor has always said it looks like I have a little fibroid but he doesn’t think that is the problem I begged him to please check very well that is when he asked me to do MRI scan to check the fibroid it turned out it was not fibroid but adenomyosis I was so angry with him that I changed my clinic went to another doctor he checked me via ultrasound and said immediately you have adenomyosis I started crying because I wasted many years and lost 3 pregnancy with a doctor that couldn’t diagnosed what I had and this new doctor dit in less then 5 minutes what took the old doctor years to diagnosed
Thank you. I feel you. I heard that adenomyosis is not easy to diagnose with ultrasound. May I ask which clinic did you go to? Or is this not ok to mention here. two doctors independently suspected it but my ivf doctor denied. I'm at a new clinic now cos I also had other issues with the previous, but with the new clinic the first scan was done by a sonographer and she did not mention anything. :/
I used clinic in Belgium. You really have to push your ivf doctor to do ( MRI )scan to check it because a lot of doctors don’t do this and that is the only way to be 💯 sure. I have no symptoms of Adenomyosis apart from painful intercourse and the loss of the pregnancy and difficulties getting pregnant.but a lot of people have heavy bleeding with clots and a lot of pain during periods
There are always those miracle stories out there! My sister got pregnant on her 7th transfer and is currently expecting her second from her 8th! My friend had her first child on her 9th transfer and then a miracle second natural baby. I should add neither of them did any additional tests etc they just kept on going and it finally worked.
Unfortunately I am the opposite end of the spectrum! 6 fresh rounds with nothing to freeze and no baby. I am thinking of moving onto donor eggs.
Alpop, I’m 47 and about to do my transfer of my last embies 10 and 11 (morulas) after BFN and one chemical over the last 4 yrs. Fingers tightly crossed for a positive this time xx
