Negative test 9dp5dt

Tested this morning and our test was negative. I'm carrying on with meds til OTD but aware this transfer is probably over for us.

We've had 1 collection 5 transfers 6 embryos. We are eligible for another NHS collection, I'm aged 28, I can't help but think if IVF was going to be successful for us with all the extras we've paid for it would have worked by now.

Trying to work out what to do, have another collection or go to adoption. Such a hard decision.

Any advice??

Thanks

Hello Hun, I am sorry to hear you have had a negative. Have you had your no cells tested? My cycles all failed until I had my NK cells tested and had steroids on my successful cycle. Please message me if you want to know more xx

Hey. I’m sorry to hear this but definitely give it a couple more days. It’s such an individual decision but personally I would do another collection, you’re young and have every chance one might work. Here if you need to talk at all xx

Is go for another collection - it may be that the embryos from your 1 collection so far were a “bad” batch l? Took us 3-4 egg collections to get the right Mix of drugs/protocol to have success

Thanks for your reply. It's not the embryo collecting that's been an issue it's implantation failure. Our embryos visually were all top grade so the clinic was hopeful that one would work out of he first collection. Xx

in reply to Montgomery2

My friend had two failed attempts and then did the scratch into the womb to help implantation and did acupuncture through her ivf and her 3 attempt was successful.

You’ve had a lot of transfers so I’m sure it’s very mentally exhausting. I would take a break for about 6 months then go for another collection especially as eligible on NHS.

Best of luck. X

It’s a numbers game with 3 goes on average for it to take.

Hiya I've had 5 transfers, all from the same collection. So that's what's kept us going this long 😊

For me it was 3 egg collections, 2 fresh and 2 frozen. Worked on the 4th frozen transfer.

Hi I’m really sorry to hear about your failed round. It is really tough. Would you consider genetically testing your embryos? Sometimes they look visually great in terms of grading but in fact end up being abnormal. You’re pretty young so I’m sure your fertility consultant may not think this is needed but it’s worth it if you’ve had so many transfers. Like some of the other ladies have mentioned sometimes it’s a bad batch on one collection vs another.

It’s really hard to make the right decision but give yourself time to grieve and process before rushing into your choice, whatever it may be. Wishing you lots of luck xx

The doctor said they would recommend if was in my 40s but they said the only benefits are it would get us pregnant quicker and the effect on mental health. If we feel OK to keep trying without the cost is greater than the benefit xx

I understand, I’m 32 and my fertility consultant said only if I failed my 1st FET (which would have been my 3rd transfer) then she would suggest genetic testing..so it can be conflicting and it’s a hard decision to make to test and know you will have to discard your embryos.

If I were you, I would go ahead with another collection on the nhs if you feel like you can (fresh cycle are tough) but definitely ask your doctor what they would suggest doing / changing going forward - a lot of doctors say it’s just luck etc but look into what other tests are available for you to do or the ones that the other ladies suggest too ((maybe Alice/Emma or Nk testing) and see how your doctor feels. Only you know your body so if you feel like a test is needed, definitely advocate for yourself

Xxx

The NK cells will be the way to go we've had Emma Alice & ERA. Thanks xx

Its bloody hard but I would keep going especially with your age and also financially if its covered by the nhs. My sister in law had no known fertility issues and it took her 7 transfers to get her twins ( same sex relationship). I think sometimes we only hear of women who get success after 2 or 3 transfers and for the rest of us we have to keep plodding on. I'm doing egg collection number 8 next few weeks, 6 embryos transferred so far no luck yet, 1 in the freezer. All tests come back normal. I'll keep going. Go for another collection if you are able. I'm sure you've tried it but inositol is very good for egg quality and pcos. Take care of yourself Xx

hey

Ive had 4 failed ivf, 3 mc and 1 miracle. I did a genetic test and an a carrier of the celiac gene which could mean gluten was to blame. When I gave it up I conceived and carried my son to term. My last mc was a blighted ovum.

Worth looking into it. Big hugs

Hey can I just ask if that was a blood test? Could a GP test for it? My Nan is is coeliac so it might be worth me checking but I’m sure I’ve had a blood test in the past x

Can I ask about that as well I've seen that some people have immunology screening? Is that what your talking about?

Aww I'm sorry, how frustrating! I think as you still qualify for a NHS cycle have another go and get the embryos genetically tested although you might have to pay extra for that.

Super hard and disappointing, I can totally relate. We had 4 failed transfers with top quality embryos (untested). I would go for another egg collection and do PGT-A testing. We ended up doing it after the second egg collection just to eliminate this particular reason for failures.

I know it’s been a really hard journey for you but don’t give up xx

Hi. I’m really sorry for your negative result. I know it’s hard to do having been where you are myself 3 times but don’t lose hope.

Each time you go through IVF it tells the doctors more about how your body reacts. The consultant might suggest steroids or something else.

Myself I had two fresh rounds then a frozen embryo transfer, then another fresh round. Thanks to the last round I have a wonderful two year old son!

I know it’s hard but there is hope for everyone. You have to give your self time to grieve for what might have been. Then with a clear head make a decision. If I was you I’d go for another round.

I wish you all the best.

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are going through negative again😔

I have had 3 full IVF cycles, collections + transfers, all our blastocysts looked perfect under a microscope, doctor and biologists kept scratching their heads not knowing why this is not working. I have had another collection done and from many eggs collected, I only had 8 blastocysts and from that only one was chromosomally normal. I clearly have quality issues ... maybe you should consider testing your embryos. I know it is costly but it is better than transferring embryos that will never have a chance x Good luck 🤞🏻

Awww I'm so disappointed for you!!😥 Its shit getting all these negatives to keep going. I think if you have the energy left once you compose yourself then go for that last collection or you'll always wonder. Have you tried prednisolone with any of your transfers? I think it's worth a shot. I reluctantly agreed this last cycle thinking it was probably a waste of time but here we are. I know it could just be luck/chance but if you both feel like you have it in you, dont give up!xxx

Thanks yeah I think that's the treatment for high NK cells I will see what they say when we have our call. 😊 Xx

Cinderella5 profile image
Cinderella5 in reply to Montgomery2

I only had slightly raised NK cells but was keen to try this as I was at the end of my tether. My clinic wasnt so keen and said the research was sketchy but I pushed and they agreed. I was also able to buy them over the counter in Greece....always an option if you know anyone that travels for work etc. Massive hugs hun, I know the hurt and failure you will be feeling all too well.😕 I looked into adoption whilst mulling over my next steps so I had all the info there.xxx

You know me, willing to try anything. I've just been researching split nails. As mine have been split tip to cuticle for a while now, and it can indicate a hormone imbalance or nutrient deficiency xx

Definitley worth looking into a vitamin, thyroid or iron deficiency for this. Vitamin D is another thing that I took in high dose this time.xxx

Hi montgomery,

You are are pretty much the same position as me, i have had 1 cycle 7 transfers 8 embryos the last transfer on the 26th they transferred my last 2 together, im on day ten today, got positives 7+8 but they got lighter and today they are negative, this will be my third chemical, ive had one stillborn 2 years ago at 34weeks 3 chemials a miscarrage at 8 weeks, and the other 2 just failed straight away. I am 30 & I am eliable for another cycle NHS but like you i’m wondering weather to go down adoption route, however i think that they prefer you to be a year out of fertility treatment before they will consider you, so im stuck between a rock and a hard place do i waste a year waiting or do another cycle of IVF for it to potentially fail and push me back a few more years. Its hard, i have made the enquiry of adoption and i am also going to take steps towards my next cycle in the mean time and do what feels right at the time. But i also feel like i should get some embryos back in the freezer before i get any older, dont want any regrets, Feel free to private message me if you want a chat, and if you want to laugh at something, ive just dipped my clearblue digital into my cup of tea instead of my wee x

Have you had the ERA test done? It’s to see when your actual implantation window is open? I had it done after a failed transfer and turns out I needed an extra day of progesterone and I finally then I Got my BFP

Yeap. Era emma and Alice 3 transfers ago x

Hi I'm so sorry to hear this. But I would say go back especially if you have another nhs round as years later you dont want to have any what ifs...also my sister had repeated implantation failure. She had 4 transfers and 2 fresh cycles. But with her last transfer the consultant gave her medication which helps with NK cells. Even though she didnt get tested for the nk cells the consultant said it would do her no harm. That's was the first successful implantation and she now has a healthy boy. She is considering going back for a frozen transfer and will be having the same protocol xx

Hi hun, so sorry to hear your news from this cycle! It's very hard to keep going and I'm pretty much in the same position as you, also under 30 and otherwise really should have had a bfp by now... 3 fresh ivf cycles, 1st cycle 3 top blastocysts all failed. 2nd cycle failed due to protocol. 3rd fresh cycle 10 embryos frozen, just about to do a FET with 2 of these!

My last round of testing revealed immune issues and possible blood issues. My dr said the understanding of immune issues is so unknown right now, but best action is to go on steroids as it seems to help these cases. I'm on prednisone and blood thinners now so fingers crossed this was the issue. I suspect my good embryos were affected by my immune issues, my levels were very high and unusual. Best of luck to you xx

Stay on the meds like you are as it’s not over till it is.If on the day it is still negative cry your heart out if you need to and it makes you feel better then take sometime out.Plus who is to say it can’t be POSITIVE???.

I would advice you rest and heal before another collection so skip a few cycles or even an entire year all those medications mess with your hormones and the body needs to settle.

After your next collection, take out time to visit an implantation clinic as some couples get good grade embryos and it fails to stick your issues may lie elsewhere.

Sorry to hear about your negative test results.

Go with your instincts. Only you and your partner know the answer to that. Sit down with them and talk about it. Take your time and don’t rush in to anything.

I think you should go for another egg collection. Then if that 2nd cycle doesn’t work you could get on the adoption list. I think you have to wait 6 months to a year depending on where you live to get on to the adoption list. You have to be completely 100 percent done with IVF. So do take your time to decide what you want to do. This is just my opinion 😊💗 You will know yourself 🥰😊💗

You could speak with the fertility clinic or a counsellor to help you come to your decision.

There’s some people on here giving you good advice so that’s a great help to you 😊💗

Good luck😊🥰
