Brown spotting at 6 weeks

I’m sure this question has been posted before but does anyone have any positive stories for brown spotting at 6 weeks? (No cramps and only enough spotting to show when I wipe) all 3 of my miscarriages started with brown spotting so naturally I’m thinking the absolute worst. Google says it’s normal so don’t know if I would be ‘bothering’ my local EPU unit xx

I did had the same.... freaking me out , because I had clot as well, thanks god everything was alright but I did went to hospital did my blood test , then had a scan as well at 5-6 weeks, I’m 23+ weeks now

I would say it’s normal but maybe is better to call the hospital to see what they said

Lots of hugs and have a easy one xx

Hi lovely, In terms of symptoms I am very similar and don’t know what to make of it. Currently 5 weeks and 1 day and been cramping with brown discharge since I got my positive. I see you mentioned having MCs in the past ( sorry to hear you have been through this) I would give them a call as you would absolutely not be bothering them. At least then you would see what their advise was and would hopefully ease the stress. Over the last few days I think I had read every story google has to offer on these symptoms 😂 as you will know this can end in something positive. I have my fingers crossed for both of us that this is just our lucky eggs making a nice home for themselves xxx

Thanks Jonesy. It’s so tough isn’t it.. will we ever be able to just enjoy pregnancies?! I appreciate the advice and I think I will give them a call in the morning. Keeping everything crossed for you too lovely and hoping we both have happy healthy pregnancies xx

It really is! I am so grateful to be on holiday at the min from work. I am off this week so I am hoping to know one way or the other. I am going to do another test when it hits a week after the first positive to see how it’s looking. I done one this morning and still positive but I feel anything I am seeing I am making an excuse As to why it’s not working 😩 Thanks lovely xxx

Hey, this was me last week when I was 7 weeks - I had cramping and brown bleeding - I called 111 and they took me seriously and asked me to come in. The nhs website says to always contact your gp or 111 if there is bleeding. I was asked to come in for a scan and saw the heartbeat. They didn’t find the cause of the bleed but it went away so they thought it might just be the uterus stretching or further implantation.

Don’t feel like you’re bothering anyone - it is always so terrifying to see blood and the people that work in EPU are completely understanding (this was my experience) have everything crossed that you and the little bean are all okay xxx

Thanks so much penguin. It’s reassuring to hear it was nothing and that your little one is growing nicely. I hope you have a lovely happy healthy pregnancy and fingers crossed the same for me too xx

Hi, I had bleeding, it was bright red not brown at about 5/6 weeks. Terrified me but all was fine. Brown sounds like old blood so might be bit of implantation bleeding making its way out. Don’t feel like you’re troubling EPU, that’s what they’re there for. Best of luck xxx

Hi minis5 I had brown spotting from 2nd week of 2WW which got progressively heavier. I like you had, had 2 previous early losses so was sure it was all over. I’m not sure if you have had ivf or not however I had bloods done on OTD (14dp5dt) which were 2800 and that same afternoon started bleeding really heavily like a period and with clots. My clinic monitored HCG levels which were found to be increasing but not doubling until eventually they started to level out and they also increased my progesterone to 1x lubion injections and 3 cyclogest per day. I am now 21 weeks so try not to worry too much (easier said than done) it’s surprisingly coming bleeding in early pregnancy especially with ivf my clinic told me but it’s defo worth getting checked over for peace of mind! Good luck, I’m praying everything will work out for you too 😘

Another story to add to the list - I had the same at just over 6 weeks and am now 38 weeks and all is fine :-). I had no cramps or anything so I was quite shocked to see blood on my liner then again the next day when I wiped. My dr asked me to come in for a scan to check, so definitely don’t feel like you’re annoying anyone. Best of luck and fingers crossed for you! X

I bled on and off my entire first trimester and everything was fine! I freaked out every time but apparently it’s quite common. ❤️

Yes, me! I had spotting from 6 weeks on and off until 12 weeks and I'm nearly 15 weeks now! If it continues and you are co concerned, lay it on a little with epu and they will get you in for a scan. It's good you aren't having any cramps though. I'm sure everything will be just wonderful xxx

I had a few episodes of this after my BFP although there was some pinky/red in there too. Scared the sh!t out of me but all was ok. The fact that you don't have any pain is a good thing. Hopefully just some left over implantation bleeding.xx

Hi Guys, I’ve had some more pain today so have spoken to my EPU and they think it’s best I go in for a scan just to be on the safe side. Feel so nervous and dreading the worst xx

Hi lovely, so glad you spoke to them and they are doing the scan. I can’t imagine how scared you must be but I have everything crossed xxx

Thanks Jonesy! I had my scan and baby is looking healthy ❤️ Measuring slightly under.. I should be 6+3 and they said it’s measuring at just under 6 but that it may not be accurate at this stage. Baby had a nice strong heartbeat 💓 they said they think the cramping / light bleeding may have been me losing the second embryo xx

So glad you had your scan and baby is doing well🥰 so happy for you. I hope you feel better hearing that heartbeat now. And this eases the stress you have been feeling.Sorry to hear about the second embryo xxx

Thank you xx I feel really sad for the second one but obviously overjoyed for this one! Hope you’re doing alright? Are you about the same weeks as me? Xx

Yes I am sure you have mixed feeling with the different outcomes xx great to hear the other is settling in nicely 🥰Tbh I am a bit all over the place, just feel drained with it all as I don’t believe i am still pregnant. I am 5weeks and 2days today. Going to do another test late this week to see if there is any change. If still positive I will have to wait till my scan in March to see what’s happening xx

March seems like a long time to wait? Is that as early as they will do your viability scan? I honestly know exactly how you feel. I felt exactly the same as you a week ago. As long as you’re not bleeding then your little one is still in there. Try and take it a day at a time and remind yourself that ‘today you are pregnant’ anything that happens is completely beyond your control. If it’s getting you down how about a private scan? Would that maybe put your mind at rest? X

Jonesy84 profile image
Jonesy84 in reply to MiniS5

Yeah it’s the beginning of March which does seem ages away but by that point it will be 7 weeks. I’ll see how I feel in the meantime and maybe book in a private one. I have had no red blood and I could be wrong but the brown bleed seems to be going although cramps are still coming and going. It so lovely to talk to people who understand the situation and how hard and sometimes cruel it can be going through IVF. I totally agree with taking each day as it comes as I can’t control the future.

Thank you so much for chatting with me. I’ll be keeping a look out for your updates and all the best with your pregnancy xxx

I bled from 6 to 12 weeks and was told it was relatively common in early pregnancy. Now 16 weeks and all on track. Hope all goes well with you and you get a scan soon xx
