High HCG levels at six weeks? 75,312?

So I went to my clinic today for blood test as I had a small amount of spotting. My results came back at 75,312 - I’m six weeks 3 days - I had a 5dt on 5th November.

They’ve asked me to come in for an early scan on Friday 4th (was meant to go on 11th)

I’m panicking a bit. Can anyone offer any advice? Xxx

High HCG levels are a good sign. They signal a strong pregnancy. It's normal to have an early scan to check for a heartbeat around 6-7 weeks. It could also signal multiple pregnancy. Could it be twins? X

Thank you for your reply. I had two embryos transferred - a 5aa and a 4? I think? So there is a possibility of twins. They said at my clinic because of my age (41) they wanted to avoid twins if possible. I’m hoping scan on Friday will show everything’s ok. I’m guessing with hcg that high I’ll def see something? Xxx

My guess is they are thinking it's a multiple pregnancyWhatever hunni you will be well monitored so if you are having more one don't panic just go with the flow. Wishing you all the very best xx

Thank you. I need to stop googling it as I keep seeing molar pregnancy or abnormal pregnancy so I need to step away from google! I always thought I would be so happy with twins but after the nurse on transfer day said we can transfer two for better chance but obviously that increases the risk for multiples and we don’t want that - I think I freaked out a bit.

I’ve got a busy day today - so at least it will keep me occupied and away from google!

Thanks again xxx

Hey try not to freak yourself out about molar pregnancies, they are really uncommon! Its more likely to be a high hCG with a singleton or maybe twins and I see in your other post that you are 41.....Im having twins and I was 42 a the time of pregnancy and now 43. I don't know what my hCG was after the 11dpt but numbers really don't mean anything once they are high and my feeling is they just want to confirm the pregnancy on scan which they can do at that level.xx

Thank you, I had a look back through your posts and it really comforted me. I’m now googling blighted ovums and worrying about everything! I think it’s a mix of the medication and hormones that are having me acting like a crazy lady 😂 ... all I can do is wait until Friday and see what is what. My partner can come in with me - which I’m glad about.

He’s missed quite a lot due to Covid so I’m really happy to have him there with me.

How are you feeling? You’re quite far on now? I hope you’re feeling ok? Thanks again your support is wonderful xxx

Well the automatic thing for me to say is stop worrying and stop googling however I know that probably wont happen 😂 so not gonna say it!! Its great to hear that your partner can come in with you, we're very lucky in Scotland as in England that's not the case and it really helps to have them there!! Roll on Friday and let us know how you get on.

Thank you! Im 17 weeks now, time is dragging a bit but I guess I just want to get to the other side now. Im feeling well, apart from a bit tubby but hey cant complain about that!xxx

17 weeks! How exciting! My partner made me step away from google this week so I’m kinda glad - as you only end up googling worse case scenarios!

Scan today was really good. Doctor was fantastic. One baby good measurement, strong heartbeat, 6 weeks 6 days. She wasn’t worried about my high hcg but want to keep an eye on spotting, so I’ve to ring if I’m worried and speak to them. Next scan on Friday 11th (which was my original) so happy I’m going in again for reassurance.

Thanks again for your replies xxx

Awww brilliant news! I'm so pleased all is well and now that you've seen a heartbeat hopefully it has settled you a little. To be honest the nerves dont really go but every step forward is great!!xxx

That's definitely the best thing. Whatever will be its totally out of your control so there's little point in looking for the possibilities. You have got this. Try to relax and wait for your scan. Xxxx

I am 21 weeks pregnant with twins and am 39. I haven't had any issues so far apart from the usual nausea and tiredness at the beginning. I had my first scan at 6 weeks and 6 days and they were able to see a heartbeat. X

Congratulations! I’m so happy for you! Did you have pretty high hcg levels? My scan will now be at 6 weeks and 6 days so I’m hoping they can see something. Did you see both babies at first scan? Did you have two embryo transfers or was it a natural pregnancy?

Sorry lots of questions xxx

My levels were high but not as high as yours (though everyone is different). At 5 weeks, my HCG was just over 6000.We also transferred two embryos and were able to see two heartbeats at the scan at 6 weeks and 6 days.

You always thinks the positive pregnancy test is the finishing line but there are so many things to stress about between that test and birth. It's only just starting to sink in now for us that we are pregnant. X

Thank you, that’s so exciting. Wishing you a happy and healthy journey. I know, I never knew about half of these things until I started the ivf journey. It’s crazy but I am going to try and see the positives. Thanks again xxx

Twins is definitely a possibility although I’m not sure why they would have transferred 2 if they also like avoid multiple pregnancies! Also you should be aware though that blighted ovum’s can also have very hcg levels x

Thank you for your reply. I hadn’t heard of that. It’s something to think about also. It’s the clinics thing to transfer two for better results. Xxx
